Dynaudio 1.3SE question I own the 1.8mkII. I agree that the 1.3se does have amazing bass for a monitor, but the 1.8mkII has amazing bass for a small floorstander. No matter how you look at it, if you want that last octive, you will have to add a sub to the 1.3se. I did n...
Down to 3 speakers, and I'am still confused Dynaudio's are an excellent match with Plinius, as noted here and elsewhere numerous times. The Contour line have an articulate top end with out harshness. One of the strengths of these speakers is their ability to please with many different types...
Dynaudio Upgrade? I own the 1.8mkII also. I too have found that the bass can be a little heavy, but if you can pull them away from the walls(side and rear), this effect can be completely eliminated(at least in my room). I would try moving them around just to see th...
Why no remote? Ok - I admit that I am biased because I own one, but the Ayre pre-amps(K-1 and K-3) have a remote control option that employs the use of a stepper motor and a drive belt that turns a gear on the volume control shaft. This is a very elegant solutio...
Replace Dynaudio 1.8 w/ AP Virgo or Tempo? Thanks for your responses. I intend to get higher end cables . Now that you say it, it would be foolish of me to change speakers without providing the cables that the rest of the system deserves to have. I am leaning towards Cardas IC and SC, Shun...
Avalon Eidolons best sound in 2003 CES ? I too read this at Avalon's website, but they fail to tell us who or what organization voted them "best". I am not disputing their claim, only hoping to learn what entity has issued this proclaimation, so that I can judge the credibility for mysel...
Looking for Alternative Preamp to Blue Circle BC3 I have recently purchased a dealer demo Ayre K3x pre-amp. It is interesting to note that Ayre uses a very similar Shallco sourced Military-spec stepped attenuator volume control in the K3 and K1 that you would find in the BC3. The audio press and ...
Mccormack DNA125, Conrad Johnson MF2250 or AVA Ome I have Dynaudio Contour 1.8 and I heard these speakers with McCormack DNA-225 in a store. My jaw dropped to the floor. The DNA-125 should be plenty enough power to drive the 1.3SE's as long as the room is not huge. On a medium to small size room yo...
Meridian 507 vs 588 anyone compared them I have heard the 2 side by side playing one jazz piece over and over again with the same IC/amp/preamp/speakers. the difference between them was very hard to distinguish. The 588 to my ear, is the winner, however, both players display a very lifel...
Newbie Question: VTA and Rega P25/RB600 Also check out Clearaudio Aurum Beta - it is short and very nearly perfect without any VTA adjustment. It is a great Cartridge regardless. |
