What actually determines volume power? Is it watts?
My guess is that this amplifier is thinning out at high volumes and can’t keep up with the demands of the music and the speakers. A high current amp of the same wattage would probably sound fuller at high volumes and might scratch the itch.  @z...

I don’t want to switch speakers... I want to keep the speakers I have and to be able to listen to the music at 30-50% volume and still have plenty of power on reserver if I want to go louder. With the Yamaha, my normal listening level is at 70% an...
Poorer sound stage and bass impact, Focal Scala Utopia Evo vs  Focal Sopra N3???
It’s the break in time period. My Sopras N1 sounded nothing like they did after breaking in.
Would McIntosh Auto Transformers affect speaker sound?
@degx1000 thank you, this was actually really interesting. Question please. Have you heard the MA12000 unit?  If so, how would you describe the sound? Also, Does that use to modern transistors that you mentioned that are not particularly warm?
Has anyone compared the Luxman 595 and the 590 AXII?
When I was at the store, I heard the 590 AX II on Wilson Sashas 1. At my home, I have the 595 on the Focal Sophia 1s. I wonder how much of a difference that would make in the mids?

No problem.... Thanks for the offer, though! 🙂

That's a odd question :) ... I live in Texas. Why?
Do any McIntosh preamps have non digital filter for bass and treble?
Naw, I mean recent models. I am sensitive to sound filters. If I wanted to go down that route, I would just get a class D. At least the MA12000 is still analog for the treble/bass.
Would McIntosh Auto Transformers affect speaker sound?
@audioquest4life Where I see that as a drawback, is if the speaker is rated at 8 ohms, but dips to 4 ohms, yet your amp does not have a 4 ohm tap, nor has good 4 ohm performance with the 8 ohm tap. Then, you could run into a mismatch as the spe...
Focal Sopra 1 Bookshelves (with subs) or Focal Kanta 2s towers instead?
Just a follow up... I ended up getting a good deal on the Focal Sopra 1s. They are really good! Love them. I plan on getting Sopra 2's in the future also. The Sopra 1s are so good I don't really need Sopra 2s. However, I am curious and  wonder abo...
Paypal drastic changes
Woe, that is crazy. There is never a gain in selling used stuff.... especially hi-fi. So if I wanted to sell my luxman for thousands of dollars I would have to deal with this horribleness. This means also my accountant bill will be higher with ext...
Focal Sopra n1 - mids are a bit recessed compared to Lumina IIs
Just to follow up on this, I did the break-in period of 50 hours and the speaker sound 100% better. I think that was the issue
Focal Sopra n1 - mids are a bit recessed compared to Lumina IIs
I read on the Focal website that it takes about 50 hours to break in their speakers to get the correct audible characteristics.  I think I might have total 1-2 hours. So maybe the mids might change?
Focal Sopra n1 - mids are a bit recessed compared to Lumina IIs
@deep_333 is it possible to bring up the freq graph of the Sonus Faber Lumina IIs to compare?  @j-wall That sounds good, thanks. I kind of wish the Sopra's were brighter though.  @ghdprentice You hit the bullseye about the Luxman. I am on the fe...
Focal Sopra n1 - mids are a bit recessed compared to Lumina IIs
@rsf507  @deep_333 when I heard the the Sopra 1s (and Kanta 2s) at the hifi store on a MacIntosh 12000, I did not detect recessed mids at all. In fact, I feel in love with the sound! The MacIntosh 12000 has a EQ, is that why? I can’t remember but...
