Speaker shootout question -- do you position the same or differently, depending? Nice graph! Any DSP? No, that's without filters. With Dirac it helped the bass smooth out. Can't remember if it was Floyd Toole who said below 500hz it's the room in control above it's the speaker. I try to do very little above 500hz maybe a ...
Peeking inside a Carver Crimson 275 Tube Amplifier No one will tear it apart. It will be measured to see if it meets advertised specs. Those who like the amp why wouldn't you still like it? Still interesting to see how it does on the bench.
Speaker shootout question -- do you position the same or differently, depending? Here is a response both speakers averaged from a bookshelf KEF R3 at LP in an untreated room with no filters applied. There is only normal living room furiture and a rug. This is a good response from a properly designed speaker IMO which only need...
Speaker shootout question -- do you position the same or differently, depending? The latest red plot Betweeen 1500hz and 10,000hz is a 10db drop then a 10db rise to 20,000hz. I prefer a smooth fall of 5db from 1000hz to 20,000hz. I would get rid of the rise from 10k to 20k. The blue first plot I would slope it from 4k to 20k ...
Speaker shootout question -- do you position the same or differently, depending? What speaker is that measurement of? If I had something measured like that I wouldn’t bother with it but to each their own. Is it a high efficiency for low watt amp speaker?
All In One Recommendations Might consider the new JBL SA750. I have no experience with it but it ticks all of your wants.
Speaker shootout question -- do you position the same or differently, depending? IMO you're going about it in a sensible manner, listening and measuring.
Peeking inside a Carver Crimson 275 Tube Amplifier That aside, even with its hundreds upon hundred of crystal clear watts (it tested ridiculously well), it couldn't beat out a nice Creek Evo Integrated of lesser power, driving all sorts of loudspeakers. What do you mean by beat out? Buying o...
Clocking: again! You do indeed live in a DSP controlled bubble 😂 Guilty. https://www.stereophile.com/content/dutch-dutch-8c-active-loudspeaker-system https://www.erinsaudiocorner.com/loudspeakers/dutch_dutch_8c/ was impressed both by the sound qualit...
Clocking: again! Yeah, those DSP controlled active speakers with the built in DAC are junk, I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone here unless they’re interested in state of the art design, FR and sound reproduction. Of course you'll need to find somewhere to introdu...
Clocking: again! Sorry maxwellseq reality isn't a commodity accepted here. Give us your over the top useless personal anecdotal blabber referencing psuedoscience double talk the sellers of these components use to get idiots to buy this nonsense. Then you'll be in ...

How important Is shielding with RCA wires? (Ethan Winer, new video) Yummy, soylent green.
I'm not all in on digital systems because I'm not all in on DACs . I like being an active participant. Let’s say I were to evaluate an all in one package, that went from streamer to speaker. I feel like I give up so much engagement in my hobby. That's what makes it interesting, the different perspectives. I...
How important Is shielding with RCA wires? (Ethan Winer, new video) Some here will dismiss this simply because it's Mr Winer. I no longer use RCA cables but I do have my Ethernet and Power cables running parallel through wire management and I've never heard any hum or distortion through my active speakers. |
