Why does a Music Server require high processing CPU power? Let us assume an AIFF Coded album. What exactly is involved in preparing the AIFF Album file (or any of the other formats) for inputting to the DAC and does this require large amounts of processing power (probably yes)Think of audio compression ...
Why does a Music Server require high processing CPU power? To get back to the OPs question there is nothing going on in a dedicated home based music server to necessitate the need for dual 20 core Xeon processors and 48 GB of ram unless you're starting your own streaming service. A NAS can run a music se...
Why does a Music Server require high processing CPU power? I assembled my own NUC Rock with an i5 and stream Quboz and my ripped CDs through it. I agree it's the best sound quality I've had as well. I've messed with some of the DSP settings and upsampling but I always end up back at original settings.
Why does a Music Server require high processing CPU power? If you're using roon and have a lot of CDs ripped to a hard drive and use Roons upsampling and digital filters they reccomend at least an i5 or i7 or compatible. The notion of dual Xeons and 48gigs of RAM escapes me unless you're doing a lot more...
Why does a Music Server require high processing CPU power? I have no idea why anyone would need dual Xeon processors and 48GB of memory in a home music server.
Why does a Music Server require high processing CPU power? The only reason I can think of is if you're doing heavy digital processing.

Ethernet Cables Your CAT 7 cable is operating like a CAT 6A with standard connectors if it isCAT 7In addition, the link impedance of this standard is 100 Ω. What’s more, there is no equipment that has connectors supporting the Class F (Category 7) channel and Cla...
Bricasti Design M1 SE - W/ LAN Network Streamer - Version 1.51 V. Denafrips Terminator The Nucleus is a computer that's what I was referring to. As long as everything is on the same network it should work. This isn't exactly correct but the easiest way to view it is the Roon core on the Nucleus is your database that accesses the mus...
Big source improvement using CD player To the OP I copied all my discs to flash drives I connected to my roon core on a NUC I assembled and I don't hear any difference between the ripped version or streaming Qobuz. Same for playing the CD so I sold my player any new CDs i get I'll RIP....

Ethernet Cables Yes poor quality patch cables cause problems so it’s best to stick with cables that meet standards. I always make sure they have the appropriate labeling. https://community.fs.com/blog/network-cable-standards-tia-568-vs-iso-11801-vs-en-50173.htmlL...
Damping Factor - Interesting article According to Pass the SIT-1 damping factor doesn’t change with frequency. The Cube is a single driver speaker, looking at the standard vertical scale at 50dB there’s a lot of axial variation from 20 -300 hz, below 100hz it looks a little strange. ... |
