Laid back DAC under $800? It varies but the area that most people find tiring is around 4.5khz you might try putting a slight notch there say -1db. Leave the rest alone and try it for a while if it's a little better but still to much try -1.5 in that same area. Don’t incr...
Laid back DAC under $800? You can do some EQ in roon, that's where I would start.
Laid back DAC under $800? If your preamp or integrated has some EQ you could dial the treble down a bit.

Lumin T2 dac gone bad? distortion "spitting" "splatty" in mids/highs What input on the STR do you connect the Lumin to? I imagine it’s what ddude003 mentioned, according to Lumin. Some systems (perhaps with a high-gain pre-amplifier) may be better matched using the ’Low’ setting. It uses a combination of DAC setting...
Magnepan, Ohm, Spatial or ?? There is switch behind the binding post cup which is set to neutral. I guess if a little more bass is desired you can move it to + a little less - . If more bass is wanted then try a sub.
Magnepan, Ohm, Spatial or ?? I wouldn't worry about subs until I heard the speakers. I was wondering why the 1000's were suggested when your room measurements are 1976 cu ft which is above the top end rating on those?
DAC upgrade suggestion It is more dynamic, bass is more punchy, sound clearer. It seems this isn't what you're looking for. R2R DACs or maybe the RME ADI-2 which has some EQ capabilities would be more to your liking.

USB cables and Galvanic Isolation Benchmark has very good application notes. I've read most of them their DACs perform very well in reducing USB noise.
USB cables and Galvanic Isolation Topping $130 DAC E30 has usb noise in at <-135db, SINAD -112db, USB distribution free range 20 -22 bits 32 tone input at 192 khz. This is attached to dirty USB off a display hub using supplied cable.Topping D90 comes in with -120.5 SINAD using ...
USB cables and Galvanic Isolation Some audiophile cables don't meet the USB 2 certification or haven't bothered to get them certified.
Long run balanced interconnects You say preamp and speakers are they active speakers? If so I would make the long run there
USB cables and Galvanic Isolation Amps will have more distortion than DACs unless the DAC is junk and speakers more than amps so if the DAC does a decent job it's not that much of a problem in the system playback. I would say nowadays it's the least of worries. |
