Brooklyn DAC+ Anyone?
Robert,I understand your confusion about the "@" syntax but this is a convention that Audiogon uses too.  Typing @ when you're replying to another responder (instead of the OP) in the thread pops up a list of everyone in the current thread.  Selec...
Tweaking my Merlin VSM-Mme's
@cellcbern Thanks for the info.  Update the thread as you get more time on them.  I bet they'll continue to improve.
Tweaking my Merlin VSM-Mme's
Very interesting.  Can you tell us how much Chris charged your for each of the two changes?  I have Merlin VSM-MXe's and this might be cost effective for me rather than upgrading the BAM.  Would love to hear more as you get more time on them!  Dick
UL gets into the music quality / branding market
@erik_squires I know but Blazing Saddles is the one that's most often quoted. :)
I need a new DAC! Advice/Recommendations?
No DSD but if you're looking for something made in-house with QC then take a look at Shiit (http://schiit.com/) - especially the multibit models if you listen to mostly CDs.

LOL ... Ears?  We don't need no stinking ears!  We have a test bench.  (apologies to Mel Brooks).

Modifying my Mark Levinson 332 for a unique visual experience
I'm sure you're going to keep it but I don't think you hurt the resale value at all.  It's beautiful and I can't imagine anyone else not thinking so too.  Dick
I have a blown driver and I'm not sure what to do
Scott, a search for "download test tones" will turn up a bunch of sites.  http://www.testsounds.com/ is just one of many.  I'd start with a tone that is close to the middle of the range handled by the affected driver and see if I got any output.  ...
I have a blown driver and I'm not sure what to do
Scott, pink or white noise might do the trick but a better test would be a set of frequency sweep tones.  Unhook the speaker that you think is ok and play the set of tones that should be covered by the driver in question (be careful of the volume)...
METHOD TO HOOK UP PHONE'S AMAZON MUSIC, PANDORA, ETC. TO CIRCA 1978 RECEIVER
+1 on reubent's bluetooth receiver option.  I use this on my office system at work and it's fine.  With bluetooth you can control it from across the room and don't have to mess with cables.  The one I have plugs directly into an AC outlet and has ...
I have a blown driver and I'm not sure what to do
Check with Madisound (https://www.madisoundspeakerstore.com/ under the Madisound Services tab) to see if it might be repairable.I'm sure that this has occurred to you but, if they didn't get blown at the same time (and possibly even if they did),...
Time for Two Ways !
Erik,I wouldn't say I'm a "two-way only" kind of guy.  But I moved from Vandersteen 3a sigs to Merlin MXes when we changed houses and the listening room got smaller.  Bass is impressive for a speaker of its size (although not nearly in the same le...
