Another update -I just swapped out one of the BlueJeans ICs with an old Monster IC I had and the problem is completely gone... no whining or distortion at all.Unfortunately, I don't want to use my old Monster cables... so I guess I will have to se...

Haha, hey Elevick. No worries, I wouldn't use wire hangers... only if they were dipped in high quality gold :).It really doesn't make sense to me that there would be any advantage beyond preventing corrosion. Reason being that right after the conn...

Wow, that's weird... I had the same thing happen when I bought an Audioquest 3 foot stereo-to-mini cable from somewhere in the far East (China or Japan if I recall correctly).It distinctively smelled like strong cigarette smoke... almost 'ashy'......
