Using step up / down transformers?
@cleeds, Remember: Volts/amps.Maybe this will help.P = I x EP = Watts, Volt-amps.I = Current, Amps.E = Voltage.Will a 240V 1500 watt space heater connected to a 240V source produce more heat than a 120V 1500 watt space heater connected to a 120V s...
Using step up / down transformers?
@sns, ''IMO, amps should be on their own dedicated 10 gauge ac line, nothing else on that line.''I agree 1000%.
Using step up / down transformers?
@cleeds, Sorry I was not clear:I know the power goes through multiple transformers as part of the electric grid's distribution system before it reaches the transformer in my neighborhood. I know my audio equipment has transformers. I meant by addi...
Using step up / down transformers?
@sns, I agree any transformers on the main AC power lines feeding your audio equipment will degrade sound quality. That is the reason why I run all my audio gear on 240 volts. I have 4 dedicated audio circuits in my audio room. Two of those circui...
Amp keeps shutting off
@oedstrom11,I agree 100%, with advice from georgehifi. Send it back for service.
Dagostino hd momentum, is lack of rubes a problem?

Best sub for music,
@jheppe815,Hi, I run the JBL B460's with a Crown studio reference 1 amp which runs on a dedicated 240 volt 30 amp circuit. IMHO: The Crown  studio reference 1 amp is the best sounding amp Crown makes. All the power you will ever need in a home hi...
Best sub for music,
I agree with poster jheppe815 on the JBL subs. I use two JBL B460 18'' subwoofers crossed over @ 50 Hz from the mains. It's eargasmic!
What's your dream speaker?
JBL Project EVEREST DD67000. Very live sounding and dynamic.                                                      https://www.jblsynthesis.com/products/loudspeakers/type/floorstanding-loudspeakers/DD67000RW.html
Low-sensitivity speakers — What's special about them?
I concur with johnk. My speakers have an efficiency of 2.7% and a low frequency response of -3 db @ 24 Hz. To get that high efficiency and low bass response and low distortion without a subwoofer requires large main speakers. No way around it. BTW...
Horn speakers , high efficiency but not “shouty”
I concur with johnk.
Advice for upgrading my system
IMHO: I would suggest any one of the three speakers below for that live feeling. ttps://www.crutchfield.com/S-Jf7EJ9e1kUT/shopsearch/heritage_cornwall_iv.html?XVINQ=GW3&XVVer=5MY&a...https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/M2System--jbl-m2...
Vintage SS Versus Modern
@greg7, Look for a Luxman L-10 integrated amp. It drove my JBL L-300’s perfectly back in 1978. It had Sanken output power transistors. It did sound nice. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owqMIpSVBNUhttps://www.hilberink.nl/codehans/luxman23.htm
