DSP vs. active analog crossover vs. passive analog crossover. What is your take? but if I had learn anything from the past, there is no substitute for large drivers. I agree 100%! Mike
Damping Factor vs speaker sensitivity @crustycoot +1 I agree with George L. Augspurger, in my opinion a damping factor (DF) of 4000 is pure marketing baloney! My Crown Studio Reference One Amp has a damping factor (DF) of 20,000 more marketing baloney. 😎 Mike
Are Expensive Balanced Interconnects Necessary? For example, with ARC balanced preamps, you'll get 6 dB more level using it in balanced mode. I think that's because AES48 compliant was ignored by ARC when they designed the balanced circuit in their preamps. I'm not picking on ARC, I'm just...
DSP vs. active analog crossover vs. passive analog crossover. What is your take? i think many situations can benefit from dsp, but at the tip top of the 2 channel music reproduction food chain it’s a penalty. I agree! Mike
DSP vs. active analog crossover vs. passive analog crossover. What is your take? I agree with @phusis, when I horizontally bi-amped my speakers with an analog active crossover design by the same manufacturer (of the speakers) it brought my speakers three notches above the passive crossover in sound quality. 😎 Mike See Act...
Are Expensive Balanced Interconnects Necessary? I do believe that cables matter. I want to put more money into my phono amplifier and spend more on my RCAs from the turntable and less on the XLR phono preamp to preamp. Good plan! Mike
Are Expensive Balanced Interconnects Necessary? I believe the answer is no if your two components are truly balanced. I agree they must be truly balanced and AES48 compliant. See article below: Mike https://www.ranecommercial.com/kb_article.php?article=2107
Can anyone tell me where the progress in audio went? @moonwatcher, +1
Large amp fan for Classe CAV150 Yes, you are killing your amps doing this... bad idea dude. I agree! Any amplifier running at a 4 Ohm or 2 Ohm load, will increase the heat and distortion drastically! 😓 Mike
Horizontal vs Vertical biamping @backdoor, In my opinion active, bi amping is sometimes hard to implement, and the user is often left to his own devices. It should not be undertaken without first asking the manufacturer's advice. See crossover below: Mike https://www.pass...

New Dedicated Line - Almost No improvement @anzaanimalclinic, Your welcome! I have found separating the digital and analog front end gear beneficial. I agree 100%! I have four dedicated lines, one for each monoblock amp, one for analog and one for digital. All four dedicated lines use ...
Lowering Tube power amp output Call Rogue audio!! The only audio amps I know of that you can remove some power tubes reduce output power without issue or damage is Atma-Sphere amps. Mike |
