Built a DIY butcher block and iron pipe rack over the weekend
Ah, yes....Home Depot (I should have read the entire thread before asking the question).

That's a beautiful, industrial-strength rack and I think you made the right decision on the metal plate footers. Who sells butcher-block in that length?
Aging Gear for Aging Ears
So it's not just me.....I'll postpone the session with my therapist. I really believe there's some science or other logical explanation for this anomaly. Like a newborn animal, maybe we were 'imprinted' with the sound from our first system. I'll n...
The Absolute Sound vs Pleasing Sound
One factor that no one seems to have considered is that everyone's hearing ability doesn't conform to a template....just like vision can vary from individual to individual, from that of a hawk to the myopic Mr. Magoo, so does the critical sense of...
If your were to assemble a vintage system ?
I am in the process of recreating my first real stereo system (to the greatest extent possible). A Sansui 5000X receiver with 60 strong watts per channel, a Thorens TD-160 turntable, a Teac RTR, (original was a 4010-SL, went with an A-4300SX this ...
Worst Concerts You Have Attended ??
True addendum to the Atlanta Pop Festival posting....I went with several friends, one of whom had been burned a few weeks earlier when he gave someone $20 for a bag of weed. The guy disappeared into a house and never showed back up. At the concert...
Worst Concerts You Have Attended ??
Atlanta Pop Festival, July 4th & 5th 1969...the music and bands were good, but it was over 100 degrees on both days. Held at the Atlanta International Raceway (NASCAR venue) on the infield and the heat from the huge racetrack baked the crowd. ...

The Atlanta Pop Festival, July 4th & 5th 1969. The bands/music were good, but it was over 100 degrees both days. The site was the infield of Atlanta International Raceway (NASCAR) and the radiated heat off of the huge racetrack baked the crowd...
Suggest one obsure album we all should hear
One last recommendation for the jazz genre.....Charles Lloyd/Jumping the Creek. Try it, you'll like it!
Suggest one obsure album we all should hear
Anything by Rory Gallagher....quite the rocker!
Suggest one obsure album we all should hear
I listen to Argus by Wishbone Ash fairly often...good stuff! Another album from that general time period that deserves a listen is Peaceful World by the Rascals (I know....the RASCALS???). It is almost a concept album and does induce peaceful feel...
Did Nixon Erase My Tape?
If I have to resort to 'baking' a tape to get it to work, it's time to discard that tape. The only stereo-related item(s) I have ever cooked are Vibrapods - when they get squashed from the weight of whatever they've been under, cooking them in a 2...
Did Nixon Erase My Tape?
Thanks for the service manual data-base info oldhvymec. It will help me to delve into this problem and decide whether to tackle it on my own or get competent help (I'm leaning toward the latter). I learned the Law of Diminishing Returns in painful...
Did Nixon Erase My Tape?
Thanks for the suggestions atmasphere, oldhvymec, et al. The problem evidently rests in the pinch roller/capstan domain as a different tape was played with thew same result. Dirty tape path isn't the explanation....I've only used the deck 2 or 3 t...
Did Nixon Erase My Tape?
Good thing I didn't reference the Three Stooges, Miller Carbon. Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk!
