This 60 Hz hum is driving me crazy
My phono stage is a separate, stand alone unit plugged into an integrated amp via interconnects and is about 1 1/2'away from the amp. The ground wire inside was insulated by the paint. I took off the ground wire, scraped the paint off and bingo, n...

For tubes I suggest Jim McShane or Brent Jessee. Both have websites and are good sources for tubes. Jim for good prices, Brent for the best. You might have a ground issue inside the amp. I had one in my phono stage that was fixed by removing some...

"Why on gods green earth would I waste money on poop I know for a fact does nothing except twist the mind of those susceptible to such rubbish." That's my point, you wouldn't, as you already know it won't work even though you haven't tried it. It...

Oh good, another thread complaining about items that can't possibly work described by those who have never tried them. Happens over and over again, boring ...
CDs And Green Markers. Please Don’t Laugh.
As you know, tweaks like these are fodder for the ones that already know that it "can't work" without ever trying them. My response was a bit of a dig on them.
Best place to get value on these pieces of equipment and how to find new homes (Roomful)
Except for 13 & 15 everything else is pretty much mid-fi level at best. Look them up for value on eBay and sell on Craigslist.

Pathos Classic Remix Clicking Changing Inputs
Not uncommon, always turn down the gain or mute before changing inputs. I can hear a minor click in my Classic MKIII.
Inexpensive speaker cables: any experience?
This ribbon or parallel design has been around for quite awhile, Weber Wire and Bradley Audio TC10 come to mind. Aside from the possible, somewhat awkward placing or routing of the cable, they look well made and their feedback is quite complimenta...
The Cable Co
Excellent service is the reason they are still in business after 33 years. Good for them!

"but at this level of hi-fi I have certain expectations" Then you you need to serious about the size of your room. I don't think you will get satisfaction inside a closet with any setup other than headphones.

Could be a loose ground inside the amp. If you only can hear it when your ear is next to the driver and doesn't increase with gain, I wouldn't worry about it.

Well, it is not the speaker cable. Have you tried switching between the 4 & 8 ohm taps?
