Are You Sorbothane Experienced?
I agree with geoff, and I don't like how squishy it is, also Sorbothane leaves residue and a stain that is hard to remove from surfaces. I have found Herbie's products far more effective and easy to work with.http://herbiesaudiolab.net/index.htm
My turntable started distorting, can you assist me?
Setting the rake angle, high or low should not damage the records. I suspect the stylus is toast. It is way past time to replace the cartridge if it is 40 years old. When you install a new one, be sure you have the correct overhang, stylus force, ...
My turntable started distorting, can you assist me?
Inspect the diamond with a loupe, do you see any chips? Is the cantilever bent? How old is the cartridge?  Check the ant-skate and stylus force.Try adjusting the tonearm base down, just a tad, so the arm looks like it is going downhill from the he...
after a sale , how long am I obligated to fullfill the deal if not paid?
I think a reasonable time is expected, say 2 to 3 days max., however I would contact immediately once the purchase is made. I also never insert the "Buy it Now" button in my ads, only use the "Make an Offer" button. That way the seller has more co...
Who thinks $5K speaker cable really better than generic 14AWG cable?
dynaquest said: " Not sure you recent post accomplished anything other than taking another personal shot at me."The AudiogoN community has many people of many beliefs, most I believe are in the "cables make a difference" category. You and others a...
Who thinks $5K speaker cable really better than generic 14AWG cable?
It is too bad, dynaquest, that your music listening enjoyment is based on rudimentary measurements that were developed scores ago. Hearing a difference is not moot, it is the whole point and YOU as the listener decides what sounds best. You say "a...
Who thinks $5K speaker cable really better than generic 14AWG cable?
One way is to insert a cable made from a different metal. If you are using copper speaker or interconnect, try a silver plated copper or solid silver cable (they don't have to be expensive). Use the same lengths and only change one pair at a time,...
Who thinks $5K speaker cable really better than generic 14AWG cable?
Zephyr, looks like dynaquest is not interested in an actual test as he believes that his cables are good enough. He thinks we are all "unknowing victims", scammed by the cable industry, afflicted by the dreaded "audio placebo effect." No "snake oi...
Anyone know what these are
Does the other one (not pictured) have a red or black binding post? Are they identical inside?
Recap my ailing Forte 4a?
I had that amp once and other Pass amps too. I would have it rebuilt. The 4a was made from 1988-1991. It was a great sounding amp back then, still has a following and with a rebuild, a better amp to last another 25+ years.
I need a recommendation for long(er) cables
DH Labs Silversonic, Supra Ply and Zu Cables are my choices and are available on eBay.
Is Audio Bluebook dead?
Hifishark and Ebay  are not good sources for high-end audio, not enough representation of high-end manufacturers. Orion is used & participated by dealers & insurance companies and is updated in real time, AudiogoN only uses it's sales an...
Why leave feedback if the Audiogon team is just going to remove it?
Well his return policy on the two items he has on now is: "Returns are not accepted on this item." So, he might be hiding behind that. His all time feedback rating is 98.1%, so he is being gigged for something. I wonder if AudiogoN removed the tex...
Why leave feedback if the Audiogon team is just going to remove it?
When I remove decals or stickers, I put them on the receipt or ad page if I bought it on line, then into a file. Most people don't think this way tho. I bet he thought nothing of removing the stickers and didn't even dawn on him that it might be i...
