PS Audio BHK signature preamp The below info is direct from the late Bascom King when i was looking into the preamp and asked the same questions to my dealer. Direct from BHK: "No problem! 10K is an easy load. it can drive loads down to 1K. There are no series output coupling ...
PS Audio BHK signature preamp Congrats on the BHK preamp. Great piece. I have the full PSA stack with the BHK250 and DSD and am very happy. That being said I did get a chance to try the Coda 8 mated to the BHK preamp for a week. Nothing to be afraid there. I think it was a gre...

Who Has A BHK 250 & How Do You Like It? I actually have the BHK Pre and BHK-250 combo with the 1.7s (not i). I think the MGs and the power amp mate very well together. Lots and lots of headroom and velvety sound with great soundstage. I did change the tubes to Tungsram tube for both the...
Bryston 4b3 or BHK 250- how woudl you compare them? I did try for a week or so the 4B3 with MG1.7s but eventually got the BHK250 along the BHK Preamp and I love their sound. Both Bryston and PS are built to a very high standard but different topology and resulting sound. That being said, with the P...
Hegel H360 vs Separates I cannot say much on the H360 - only heard it on show rooms and it always shines. Couple of years ago I did try the H20 on its own and along the P20 preamp for about a week or so. I was mightly impressed by the H20 driving Magnepan 1.7. Not sure a...
Best preamp combination with Hegel H30? Excellent power amp. I am sure the P30 is a good match sonic wise, but try it to see if the remote volume step size is ok with you and no L/R balance if you need that. The BHK pre might be another option as well.
Voltage conversion in Wyred4 Sound DAC I had asked W4S along time ago for the DAC2 which i bought. The DAC-2 requires a power supply pin configuration change. Contact W4S directly. I was told that they can supply a power jumper that can be used to reconfigure it for one of the voltages,...
Magnepan 1.7 w/ Tubes & lots of Class D Power I can relate to your system. I recently acquired new MG 1.7s and driving them with W4S ST-500 for the moment (and W4S DAC-2 with no preamp in between)I went to the Magnepans after 3 yrs with the ML Source (everything else same). In my other place i...
Bi-wire: is it worth it? I agree with the above. I do have the SL3 in the family and recall that that crossover design benefited from biwiring. I think the old Stereophile review of the SL3 recommended biwiring. I have mine externally biwired with twin runs of DH-Labs Q-1...
TEAC Distinction series Thanks. No I hadn't seen that review until now :)I read a german magazine review with positive comments.Looks very interesting.
Atlas Mavros 75 ohm digital I am using a 1.5m long Atlas Mavros between a modified Oppo 93 (modified by EVS) used as media transport and a W4S Dac2.It is a very well constructed SPDIF cable with great connectors and no use of solder. It gives a very spacious sound, never fat...
Has anyone used Supra AC connectors ??? I agree that the Supra AC connectors are at least awkward and not very good from an engineering design standpoint. However I have used the Lorad 2.5 and 3.5 in a fairly resolving system with Furutech connectors (silver plated IECs and copper wall ...
Oppo 95 with external DAC I am using the Oppo 93 with a W4S Dac2, streaming files wirelessly from a Netgear ReadyNas. Using an Atlas Mavros 75ohm digital cable (1.5m). The only difference between the 93 and 95 in terms of transport use (not analog), is the power supply bei...
compatibility issues with the oppo 95 and ext hd's Same here. My OWC Mercury Elite AL-pro 1.5 TB is not recognized (Oxford Chipset). My old Buslink (e-sata and usb 2.0) drive was recognized nicely for months and one day it stopped being recognized by the Oppo. Still works fine with my laptop e-sat... |
