Schroder sq and the new talea
"What is trans-cognitive knowledge? And if there is a perception beyond formal operational cognition, then what would it see?"This question is addressed by the crack in the bowl--a complex metaphor suggestive of the failure of knowledge and the sy...
Schroder sq and the new talea
On the deconstruction of gladius & scutum I'll defer to Henry James, whose modern perspective on Romans and intrinsic quality & universal valuation(embodied in the ideal of perfect marriage) is captured in the symbol of the Golden Bowl. Pe...
Schroder sq and the new talea
Kostas_1, classical economics is helpful in explaining valuations on luxury goods like tonearms, insofar as the theory of marginal utility accounts for diminishing returns. However esoteric consumer behaviors relating to tonearm purchases requires...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Halcro, Did you flatten the cartridge body with or without the LC stylus? If the stylus survives, please send it to me and I will personally torture it by grinding it into vinyl for some 2000 hrs.
The Great Vinyl Debate
With a linear arm it is critical for the air manifold to be exactly parallel with the plinth and wand length to be set so the stylus will obtain perfect zenith. If this set-up is not achieved then the linear arm will perpetuate a constant tracking...
The Great Vinyl Debate
The last discounted LPs that I purchased at the dawn of the CD era were mostly marked $5.99-- about $15 in 2010 dollars. Today most of the discounted new issues at the indie store are very close to this price, and some are cheaper. Not bad conside...

I have no experience with Azden YM10C, but YM-P50VL (Vital Nude LC Stylus)-- which garnered previous praise on this thread-- sounds fine.
Your favorite 3 rooms at RMAF
I missed some rooms but at SOTA was most impressed by:Kaiser speakers w/GTE electronics & new Fono Acustica cables.Classic Audio Reproduction field coil horns w/AtmaSphere.VTL w/Wilson Sasha.Below the stratosphere I particularly liked Quad spk...
Eric Clapton Clapton
McCartney watchers have mostly moved on, but there is a generation of aging fans for whom hope springs eternal that Clapton will return to form. For awhile it was anticipation for a real blues album, but when he finally did it it came out as minst...
Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever?
Clio09, Of course in LSA the series/shunt photoresistor IS the volume control. The knob that you twist merely controls the control. I'm suggesting that by adding a companion active buffer, the LDR control could be directly compared to a convention...
Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever?
"Amplifying the low-level stuff, stuff that might not get through (stage depth & other nuances) is important and not insignificant as we know. Is it possible a great active can get more of this information by way of design then a passive?"When...
Girlfriend's mom threw my Cardas out with trash
The obvious answer is to take it out in trade. However if you confess how much those cables really cost and the two of you get married, then you may have severely hobbled future purchases.
Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever?
I have not heard LSA but have used the same LDR resistors to provide variable cartridge loading in a modified phono stage. LDRs are about as clean sounding as the best nude Vishay, Caddock, and tant resistors, so I imagine they would make a first ...
Next Upgrade for VPI Scoutmaster TT
I just finished implementing DIY stillpoints on the TNT motor. This is an improvement over the stock rubber feet. Each footer is a pyramid of five 1/4" ball bearings captured by the spring steel petals of a 5/8" chrome hole plug from Lowes. The va...
Graham Arm on VPI TNT?
A Trans-Fi linear arm retired a Graham 1.5tc on my modified TNT. I correspond with an HRX owner who had similar impressive results replacing a VPI 12.7 on HRX. Feel free to PM if you would like that contact.
