Vibrating Woofer, old tubes?
how much do you think I should be paying for the labour? I talked to a local tube expert today, he will give me an estimate a couple of days after I drop off the unit. I don't want to overpay, help me not get ripped off. Thanks again.
Vibrating Woofer, old tubes?
LOL, very true Rodman. BTW, what was it like playing for the Bulls?

Thanks for the heads up, I really appreciate it. If you are right, and I think you are, then you have saved me a an immense amount of headache.

Vibrating Woofer, old tubes?
This might be a stupid question, but suppose that everything is in working order, all else constant. Does doing so change the character of the sound? Yes this is certainly an old unit, and that could be a solution. So who manufactures an excellent...
Vibrating Woofer, old tubes?
I hear you, I ommited the detail since I am almost 100% sure no one has ever heard of it, perhaps I should have included the manufacturer spec anyways. Here it is: It is a: Wait for it, wait for it,Soundtech Preamp one

I still can't complete the calculation. This is problematic as I am looking to get myself a decent matched step up in the very near future. Seems like there are some errors in the above calculations.
why is a 13" tonearm design really superior?
HAHAHAHAHAHA, LOL. Yeah there are trade-offs when the arm length becomes to large. The change in effective weight placed on the stylus proportional to changes in up and down vertical movement increase with arm mass. So yeah don't plan on using a f...
Entry-level Turntable
Nothing wrong with MM. Have a look at the Grace f9 Ruby, if your lucky enough to get your hands on one you will not be sorry. It beats the pants off of most other modern MMs and can sound as nice as a MC. What is the budget for a MM/MC?
Technics SL1200 Cardas REWIRE Shielding
I hear you KAB is amazing, no question. But I want to do it myself, learn something new, and enjoy the process. It is going to be tricky working with these slim wires but I will try to sort it out. Thanks guys. It is too bad the tonearm wire, when...

Wow, Axel thanks a million. Now I am just having a little trouble calculating. What is DCR? Could we work through a case together so this crystallizes? Data: Denon Au310 Step up, and 2 cartridges. #1 Denon Au 310: Winding wire ratio (pressure-up r...
Tube sound Comes, mainly, from? Pre or Power?
I see. Thanks a million. Of course I will have to experiment by myself. The prospect of biasing seems rather painless, a dealer showed me how to do it on a rogue cronus and I have had a pro do an old guitar amp for me; also rather painless. I coul...
Tube sound Comes, mainly, from? Pre or Power?
makes sense. do you mind elaborating? In light of your explanation what then is the rational behind tube pre + Solid power?
totem arro's or B&W 604 s2's
Strictly a preference issue, But I must say I have demoed them both and done an A/B,( not series 2 rather the 683 very similar) . I found the B&W disappointing. They sounded a little bright in comparison and had a flabby low end. A very forwar...
