Holographic imaging
To my mind Newbee has given the best description of what is meant by "holographic imaging". What Mapman seems to refer to seems to me to have more to do with good soundstaging and placement of instruments therein. Bloom is something which is easy ...
Holographic imaging
Hi Chris,I use Atmas and VTLs at the moment and get holographic imaging only if it is on the software. In my experience both SS as well as tube amps can screw around with phase, which sometimes, not always, can give you the illusion of holography.
When is digital going to get the soul of music?
Mapman,to my mind and ears it is very much like you say. I've tuned the LP part of my system to LP, the digital part to digital, using software which I know well in the process. Ty my ears both sound good, however different, which does not bother ...
The eternal quandary
Goldeneraguy, heck yes, you are so right, didn't think of those. Must have repressed that for a good reason, because I'm bent to go on soothing.Twoleftears, Shadorne I could not agree with you more, though I will insist on dragging D.S. into the m...
The eternal quandary
Hi Newbee,What a beaut!! LOL. "audiophile analist approved" --AAA-- for short, I would suggest, but since AAA is already taken, I believe, by the motoring crowd, what would you think of "AA"-short for "anankast approved"?Shadorne you make - as usu...
The eternal quandary
Actually I have found a more ( I suppose ) simple approach in dealing with the above mentioned problems:I have LPs in my collection which I have used in a benchmark role through all the many systems I have owned in the last decades. I have- if you...
PC on power supply for cd player
Yes, according to my ears.(Zanden, dCs)
The eternal quandary
Twoleftears,I have to agree with you right down to your every word. Your experience is also mine, but it took me quite a couple of years to understand what was going on, I must say.
Quads vs Sound Labs vs Maggie 20.1
Hi Dave,Thanks. I do see your point. Two smileys ((:I had a double stack of Quads once, was impressive, but I'm happier with my Sound Labs now.
Quads vs Sound Labs vs Maggie 20.1
Hi Dave,What do you mean by "better", in which fields that is, and how would you best power these speakers?
AC Power Between Amp and Preamp
Just a 2-cent suggestion: Why don't you experiment? Leave out the surge protector and power up your amp and sub apart from your pre and listen to some music with lots of dynamics in it. If you hear a pleasing difference in the music, try the same,...
Quads vs Sound Labs vs Maggie 20.1
My Quad63s sounded best with the Jadis 80 monos. Second best were the Jadis 200 monos. A bit of overkill though. The dipolar woofer you mention is probably the Gradient63, made in Finland. I drove them with the 60watt Atmas and the active Gradient...
Atma-Sphere MA-1 amps
Honest1, all I can say at the moment, that both amps are true to the music. Speaking of the Atmas, the amps give you a sort of middle of the hall placement with most classical recordings and a midrange which is impeccable, adding nothing, taking n...
The eternal quandary
Greg old friend, now finally you have made me understand why I had that odd compulsion to buy those huge Sound-Labs in spite of knowing that they would clutter up most of my listening space. I just can't move them. Ain't got the strength no more. ...
Atma-Sphere MA-1 amps
Emailists,The Atmas take FN4 Fusetrons. I am not aware that there are premium versions for these beasts on the market.
