SLOT LOADING CD MECHANISMS - DO THE DAMAGE CD'S?
I bought the AUDIOLAB 6000cdt a few moths ago and I am very pleased with it. Sounds much better than the CAMBRIDGE CXC i had before. The slot loader is from JVC. Never noticed any scratches on my cd's. Nearly the same player is also available under...
Looking for my "last" CD transport
If budget is limited: AUDIOLAB CDT 6000 or the nearly identical LEAK CDT.  I purchased the AUDIOLAB  a few weeks ago, to replace a faulty CAMBRIDGE CXC; the SQ of the AUDIOLAB is so much better. Bass is more punchy and more extended.  The LEAK has...
Speaker sensitivity vs SQ
Pa speakers are much more sensitive than hifi speakers, but produce more ditstortion and do not have the same frequency range. To compensate they require active filtering and subwoofers. Making a sensitive speaker isn't that complicated: a woofer ...
Why don't all phono preamps include a rumble filter?
infrasonic rumble can destroy you woofers. especially when listenning at high volumes! My NAD phono preamp does not need a rumble filter as it always cuts those ultrasonic noises. With my former phono preamp (ATOLL) woofers were moving excessivly ...
PMC versus Wilson Audio
I thougt WILSON use FOCAL  tweeters.
Which DAC as a preamp?
Classé cp 800,  or  ROTEL RC 1590 , both have analogue inputs too. I had the Rotel a few weeks, but brought it back to the shop, sound was not at all dynamic,
CDs Vs LPs
to obtain the same sound quality as a simple 50$ cd or dvd player, a turntalbe with a good cartridge will cost at least 10 x  more. the problem is that even cheap cd players offer very good sound quality.
Fraud Alert: Audio Zoom Zoom, Netherlands
I live in Belgium, and just by curiosity, I did send a mail to ZOOM ZOOM, asking if I could drop by to have a look on some of their gear. Off course: no reply!
JBL everest?
Horn speakers, like some JBL's,  are a good match with valve amps because of their higher sensitivity, however for smaller rooms, horns can sound harsch when you'r sitting close to them. So my opinion: those big JBL's only if you have a living roo...
Transport
watch out with old cd players based on a PHILIPS laser! some of those lasers are not available any more. Philips does not manufacture them any more. If you would consider buying a new transport, the only affordable one on the market is the CAMBRID...
Rotel RA-1592 vs Paraound Halo or better (anyone heard both?)
I had the ROTEL rc 1590 a few days at home. Very complete pre amp: bluetooth, wifi, phono... but the sound lacked puch, compared to my previous and cheaper pre amp! not dynamic enough. A drummer hitting his toms stongly didn't sound like it any mo...

Bryston or Classe
I cannot comment on Classé power amps, but my Classé cp 800 pre amp has a lot of issues: input switching does not work from time to time , ditital ticking from time to time, and the ios app does not work at all. Made some youtube video about it: h...
