Salk owners -- any interest in a more sensitive Salk model? @b_limo Jim builds everything in house. Been there several times.
Salk owners -- any interest in a more sensitive Salk model? As a Salk owner. I’m not interested, save possibly for something like the Exotica with the twin powered subs. But with a bit snappier top end. I’d like to see Jim build a new flagship like the SS12 (my current speaker), before a a high sensitiv...
Best light weight full range speaker recommendation. Easy answer for me. Try to find (or talk Jon) into building a set of the Ohm Walsh SSC4900's. Very light due to the tubes, HUGE full range sound. Or find some old sound cylinders and send them in for an upgrade. Crazy full rage sound if set-...
Are Ohm Walsh's a step up from Martin Login Electro Motion ESL's Martin Logans- Narrow sweet spot, excellent imaging and transperancy. However they compress at volume. Very coherant, until the woofer takes over. Current Ohm’s - Huge Sweet Spot, flat out do not compress, extremely coherant, nice imaging, but no...
Anyone dislike Ohm Walsh speakers? I've owned a couple pairs. I've enjoyed them. I don't currently own any, but always have my eye out for a good deal on used ones, or better yet the sound cylinders. Not perfect, but do a lot right, fun speaker. Good bass, big soundstage, solid i...
So damn hard deciding which tube preamp to buy! C2700, fantastic pre-amp, great built in DAC. Done. Love mine. Bought it with a MC462, was more worried about the pre-amp, than the amp. The pre-amp made a bigger difference. It’s excellent.
Revel Performa F228 Be speaker... thoughts? Great speakers. Something in a similar type (Flat response) you might consider is the Salk SS 9.5. More personalized but a bit more than 5-6k. The Song 3 Encore is similar but less spendy also.Don’t be afraid of used in many cases. Vandersteen...
Klipsch Epic CF4 Fun speakers, I wish I had kept my Gen 1's. Wouldn't be my main speakers anymore, but while large... they were a fun speaker.
First tube preamp recommendations (under $5k) Used McIntosh C2600 or a used Audio Research would be the way I would go.Had a Pass XP22, it was excellent. But I prefer my C2700 with the built in DAC. Slightly larger soundstage, and the tubes add just that special something.Note, used it with...
T+A PA 3100HV vs Pass Labs X350.8 Interesting. I love Pass labs, and had the chance to A/B my 250.8 with my now current MC462 along with a C2700 pre-amp. My speakers are very flat measuring, and somewhat demanding like yours. While there were differences between the 462 and 250.8.....
Revel Salon 2 vs Vandersteen 5a Carbon Both excellent, and you don’t have garbage now.Assuming you like what you have now, but want something a tad more refined, but with the big, spacious soundstage that the OHM’s in particular provide (though the Triton’s are no slouch)... if you can...
McIntosh c2700 users please chime in? I had always wanted Mac gear since I was a kid, and once I did try a 302 amplifier and actually didn’t like it with my speakers at the time (surprising!)But, a couple of months ago as I decided to make a change to my Pass Combo (which I loved), an...
Your advice needed, speakers to buy $8K to $13K 1. Something used...I like OHM, but agree that if you like top end sparkle they may not have what you want, particularly with your electronics.Salk SS 9.5 comes to mind, has options to open the back to add air and space if you like. Top notch dr...
32 bit Sampling rate support on Mcintosh DA2 I have it, but just run my streamer direct into it.I know it sounds absolutely fantastic in my C2700.
Mcinotsh C1100 vs C2600 with Chord Qutest? Recently purchased a C2700 with the DAC2. Frankly, I love it. If I were you... that might be the direction I would go. But, let your ears be the judge. |
