Washington DC I'm definitely interested in hearing other systems. Maybe even have a mini equipment shootout (cd players, dacs, cables, power conditioners, etc). Here is my system:--Logan Aerius i hybrid electrostats--VTL IT 85 integrated tube amp (80wpc)--BAT V...
I can't really hear a big difference No, the BAT is the first high end player I've tried. Plan is to wait for better interconnects. If nothing significant changes after that, and some more listening, I'm going to try some other players. Buying used means I won't lose much.
I can't really hear a big difference hey paul, it's not that the sherwood does what i want it to do. i mean, it does sound good, but i feel like it could sound better. and maybe i'm just trying to get something out of a format that cannot supply what i'm looking for... guess i'm just...
I can't really hear a big difference i'm almost beginning to think maybe the tubes are going out or something. more than half the time i think the sherwood sounds BETTER.maybe i need an ear.. but DAMN, it's almost impossible to hear the difference. i may send it to BAT, get the DAC u...
I can't really hear a big difference After more warming up and listening, it sounds like the BAT is more laid back, subtle, maybe even timid. I feel like the music is kind of hesitant, when it comes to rhythm, compared to the Sherwood. I know this must sound crazy. Does anyone live i...
I can't really hear a big difference Why would the Sherwood sound louder than the BAT? I'm having a hard time A/Bing them because of this...A little more listening, and the BAT sounds a LITTLE bit more realistic on piano, but the Sherwood plays voices more forward and full... almost ...
I can't really hear a big difference Dekay... YES, i only use the mixer when i'm playing vinyl. the cd player plugs directly into the VTL, which is an integrated amp.
I can't really hear a big difference well, the ICs i'm using are pretty generic. Audio research, I think the brand is... cost $25 or so. i have a pair of silver ICs coming to me in the mail, but they're not here yet. I'll see what happens when I add them. yeh, i'm guilty of not liste...
Audio Aero Capitole MK II: Performance & Problems Wow, I just read through this thread... I'm pretty blown away by the number of complications of the cap2. I mean, DAMN! It's almost 9 BIG ONES!! I have been looking for a tubed cd player now for over a month, and had the cap2 on my short list. But...
Biwiring: can you really hear the difference? Wouldn't using two sets of cable be like doubling the "filter" on the sound... however your cables change the music, they'll do that , that much more with two sets? If your cable is very neutral in sound, then biwiring might not do much, but if yo...
Biwiring: can you really hear the difference? OK... so let's say I bought two pairs of cables (4 total); my amp still only has one pair of +/- for each speaker channel. That would mean I'd have each post on my speaker accomodating two spades? Is that what people suggest?
Electrostatic speaker cables... Bear, how bout the specs on your cables? you said they were both low capacitance and low inductance; can you give us the measurement?
Digital Front End.. help please Well, guess i'm considering the BAT VK D5SE that's a DEMO version with warranty. i know it's alot more, but i wanted a tubed player. i haven't had a chance to hear the gamut, but have read it's little on the "digital" or ultra-defined sounding. i ...
Amplifiers Recomm. to drive my Martin Logans I was driving my Martin Logan Aerius i with an NAD C340, and just recently upgraded to a tubed VTL IT 85. The difference between these two amps is HUGE HUGE HUGE. My speakers have become SO musical. Veils and veils removed. Mids are MUCH richer, f...
