Which DACs are known to be sweet/rich/relaxed? Having a custom listening room is next level audiophile. I always thought I had a pretty good system, but until I had a custom room, I didn't realize how far from "good" it was. There is no substitute.
I don't want to beat a dead horse but I'm bugged. Maybe the problem is not a math problem and that is the difficulty. Maybe it is as simple as realizing that because you are applying a decision based algorithm, something math is poor at representing, that a "solution" simply does not exist in the...
GaN amps: Peachtree or LSA Voyager? @snapsc, would that not be easier to accomplish with DSP?
GaN amps: Peachtree or LSA Voyager? @atmasphere Is there a reference for the -105db? That sounds excessive. Do you mean at a single frequency or all frequencies (I assume 10KHz and under?). I see an often quoted limit of 0.1% as being the absolute lowest than can be detected, and ...
Can a DAC sort out a flat\cold amp? +1 @crustycoot. Some audiophile don't want to accept that flat frequency response and low distortion can only have one result as long as the output resistance is not high.
High current power cables @clearthinker it would be impossible to confused your intelligent reasoned posts with the self indulgent ignorant drive-by insults of the poster who shares a similar name. Don't worry, they appear to work on a lunar cycle and should go dark shortl...
How Electricity Actually Works Come on guys, I read some of that Crump stuff. The best word I can come up with is lunacy. If you are experiencing: "Interconnects or speaker wires that have pianos wandering all over the stage normally have their signal and return going in the ...
Can a DAC sort out a flat\cold amp? The room will be a mess, but I don't think the speakers in that location nor even the reflective surface are going to result in too little bass. I would expect boomy bass from the near corner placement. Something is broken. One of the speaker pol...
High current power cables Now @clearthink , in another thread I said I was not an acoustics expert, which I am not, but I said my physics are above average. Significantly above average would be more correct. Now I will ask kindly that you stop the drive by insults that ar...
Lose weight or buy better fitting pants @clearthink Now while I may not be an expert in acoustics, my physics is above average and sound does not behave any different in audio than any other pursuit. Boundary issues would be a factor of wavelength and distance to the walls. Whether y...
Can a DAC sort out a flat\cold amp? Not to insult the OP @orenm145, but are you 100% sure that both speakers are the same phase? It sounds like your woofers are out of phase. What you describe is not an amp unless it is broken. I would swap the wires from + / - on one set of speake...
Lose weight or buy better fitting pants I would think that large speakers would work just fine in a small room. Turn down the volume. Small speakers would not work in a large room as you would get distortion before reaching the volume you desire.
High current power cables @kijanki that is a good point. I am normally dealing on much smaller scales, so don't naturally think of these things. From a pure extracted parasitics view, spacing out the conductors will cause the inductance to go up which will soften power pea...
Replacing cork platter mat with acrylic mat I am with ghdprentince on this. Does not take much to change the frequency response. If one is thinner, take a record you hate and put it underneath the mat. See if they sound closer.
Which DACs are known to be sweet/rich/relaxed? @cleeds I am still waiting for your answer to why you are attacking a hobbyist on a hobby forum for calling out a supplier making a post on a hobby forum that included dubious claims. You are doing this to the detriment and misdirection of this ... |
