Musical Surroundings Phonomena II+ -OR- Moon 110lp v2 -OR- Parasound ZPhono XRM Phono I'm back: Just looked @ one of your system pics from a previous thread and wonder if you still have it set up this way. Pic shows a less than sturdy looking table with the TT setting on top of an amplifier (subwoofer placed directly below the am...
Musical Surroundings Phonomena II+ -OR- Moon 110lp v2 -OR- Parasound ZPhono XRM Phono Grisly: Sorry, but I don't know what to add/recommend @ this point based upon your responses. DeKay
Musical Surroundings Phonomena II+ -OR- Moon 110lp v2 -OR- Parasound ZPhono XRM Phono Do you have a source aside from vinyl? If the sound of it gets confused with more complex music then it could be the amp/speakers. If this only happens with vinyl playback then something is amiss with the analog gear. A P3 with a decent cartrid...
Musical Surroundings Phonomena II+ -OR- Moon 110lp v2 -OR- Parasound ZPhono XRM Phono Something is wrong. List all of your year with specifics and maybe someone here can help figure out what. My TT/arm are approx. 50 years old and my phono preamp retailed for <$200 - this setup plays everything without a hitch. DeKay
Musical Surroundings Phonomena II+ -OR- Moon 110lp v2 -OR- Parasound ZPhono XRM Phono Figure out what is wrong with your current rig before buying new gear. What you describe is most likely a setup and/or a mismatch problem. Could be something as simple as cleaning the stylus - if you are lucky. DeKay
Perhaps a guilty pleasure.... Jim: OT, but wanted to share this link to The Daily Iowan Archives (don't know if you have it). Been having fun cruising through my I.C. years and also through the time period my older sister was there as I used bus over for visits. D...
Micca 14 Gauge Pure Copper Speaker Wire My opinion is that they are the first multi stranded speaker cable that I’ve truly liked enjoyed having run a 6’ pair for the past 3 months in budget near-field system we use while on the computer. Suggest that you reinstall and listen to them fo...
Pioneer PL-41 If it still keeps speed and sounds good maybe just replace the thrust bearing (easy to do) for <$20. You should also clean and re-oil the well while you are @ it (use Singer sewing machine oil). DeKay
If you had $12k / £10k to upgrade your analogue front-end... I didn't first think of changing mats because I went through all that ages ago. When I was young I would switch cartridges not knowing that the mat and/or what the TT rested upon made a difference. DeKay
Bose 901 series with and ipod. The speakers require amplification - ACTIVE refers to the separate equalizer. The Audioengine B1 (already mentioned) should do the job for <$200 if the OP already has a suitable amplifier. DeKay
tweaking audio systems with modifications. Viper, ask TubeBuffer to buy you a really good sounding system (with a SOTA MP3 player - of course). DeKay
If you had $12k / £10k to upgrade your analogue front-end... The OP is looking for more of a "jump/exciting" sound, though with a sizable budget. My course of action would be to optimize what he is currently using (he has a nice system which could be improved towards his goal with 10%-15% investment of th...
If you had $12k / £10k to upgrade your analogue front-end... Just read a Stereophile review of the 1200G (prompted by dctom's post) and saw mention of an aftermarket mat that I was not aware of. Changing the mat would be a good place to start with the OP's current setup. I have (Thorens TD125 MkII/SME 300...
Is there a remedy? Is the front baffle removable? The drivers look to be rear mounted and I do not see access to inside the cabinet (even @ the binding posts). DeKay
Speaker cable recommendations Just for fun check out Micca cable in the following A'Gon thread. I have not tried it in my DH/SET setup, but am amazed @ how good it sounds in a little computer system (Ive used the 47 Labs and the Neotech in this system). I also tried Canare 4... |
