CDP Isolation?
The strange thing is: even when using a form of air isolation (pressurized air or magnetic levitation) the sound can actually degrade (less PRaT, less midbass slam, more laidback and uninvolving sound). Theoretically it shouldn't, but in real life...
NEW JC-2 Breakin time???
Don't expect that the amplifier will sound very good suddenly with 600 hours of break in! Otherwise it would be magic. Do you believe in magic?Chris
I hope break in is true
I think within the audiophile community the phenomenon of break in time has been exaggerated too much. Technically there exists a "break in time". This is a phenomenon that has been associated with electro-mechanical transducers, like moving coil ...
has anyone heard the arp reflective boards?
I have also one thing I would like to ask: have you ever had the experience when you are visiting a buddy with an audio system that is playing at that moment that you like the sound of it immediately even when you are just entering the doorway to ...
has anyone heard the arp reflective boards?
I know from experience that there are two groups of audiophiles. One group is trying to have the concert hall perspective captured in a most neutral/objective way. The other group is trying to get as close as possible to the musical experience. Th...
mbl 1521a and 5011 how good are they
I cannot comment on the MBL 1521 CD transport, but I find the 1621 even better than the CEC TL-0 MkII. I've had the CEC once, now I own the 1621. the MBL sounds very detailed and organic like the CEC but with more authority. I suppose both the MBL...
Speaker's efficiency, sensitivity and impedance
That was quite elaborative Duke, thanks. So in fact sensitivity is closely related to efficiency and in fact they are expressions of the same thing but differs from one to the other in approach? Mlsst: instead of picking on me and telling me that ...
Second harmonics distortion?
No, I don't think it was clipping. It could originate from the recording itself. I personally find that Jadis equipment has it's own sound signature. Jadis makes good sounding stuff btw.Chris
Second harmonics distortion?
Ok, thanks guys.Chris
Next upgrade, DartZeel or Ayre
Hi Sirspeedy, may I ask you: which power amplifier is in your opinion "in a class of it's own"? Goldmund? Audio Research? Lamm?Chris
Very low speaker impedance
After the elucidating words from Mlsstl, Johnk, Rademaker and others it is clear to me that the impedance issue is only important if you take other parameters of speaker design into account. But I want to put something right here: you have to agre...
Very low speaker impedance
Let me put it this way (and this would be my last question before I shut up): Is it with today's technology necessary to implement an ultra low impedance into ones design to get excellent sound?Chris
Stereophile claims about Magico
I want to say something too: I think it would be wise to audition the Magico first (with the right set up and in a room with appropriate acoustics) before concluding that it is indeed a flavour of the month speaker...I think only a few of you have...
Very low speaker impedance
Ok, thank you all. I was just wondering why some speaker builders are designing speakers with ultra low impedances (probably they want to look which amplifier would be able to drive or to survive them..., just kidding). I think nowadays the speake...
Very low speaker impedance
Fellow audiophiles, let's ask another question: very low impedances are extremely demanding with regard to amplification. Do many speaker manufacturers choose for a "safer" (more benign) impedance behaviour even if they know a low impedance design...
