Television technology - where are we?
Tim good suggestion! I plan to visit Best Buy to do some comparison shopping and then buy online for less. I'll be replacing my Hitachi 55"Plasma, which is a stellar tv. I was an early adopter of HDTV and was very impressed with Hitachi - every bi...
Help me avoid sonos, please
I have Sonos running a variety of speakers both inside and outside the house. I have access to all my Spotify, iTunes, Pandora stations... you name it. I can access the Sonos app from my phone and can control speaker volume, song selection etc. No...
Accurate vs Musical
Prof - Thank you for your response. I misspoke, I have T-5's, not C-5's.JA speakers have a great reputation, they're also a bit pricey. Salk Signature Sound's Veracity HT3 is a somewhat similar design that also uses a SEAS midrange driver and us u...
Small or large sub for music
I have two Rhythmic 15 inchers. I too thought I would place them on the inside of the tower speakers. That didn't work, so I went to the printed manual and they suggested placing them on opposite ends of the room pointing towards the middle. Magic...
Accurate vs Musical
hobbyjaybo -You mention Hales in your list of well designed speakers. I'd second your endorsement, as I have owned a pair of C-5's for 18 years. I use them for both home theatre and standalone music appreciation sessions. I have been curious as to...
Small or large sub for music
I'm not sure whether it's a more appropriate question than your original, but it's certainly a significant factor when weigh sub-woofers for music and that is whether you purchase ported or non-ported speakers. I prefer non-ported subs as they're ...
Looking for a used AUDIOPHILE AV Receiver
Never been a fan of Yamaha gear. I've always found their designs produce a micro veil across the music. They always seem to get in the way of the recording.

Very Bad purchase from upscale audio Acoustic Zen Adagio
For retailers trying to defend Mr. Deal. I disagree on two grounds.1. It's crystal clear to anyone with functioning eyes that there's a significant difference between speaker A & B. As the purchaser stated, the cabinets are not the same color ...
Wife trouble
I had to laugh at the title of this thread. I agree with Stereo5... keep the speakers and trade in the wife for an upgraded model.
The best speaker you ever heard?
CTsooner, I just visited the Vandersteen web site. Holy smokes... 5A's are now $26K a pair and the 7's $52K! Fourteen years ago I almost bought a pair of 5's for $9K. Went with Hales Design instead."Carbon-fiber Perfect Piston" drivers? Really... ...
Yamaha AVENTAGE RX-A2040/3040?
I'm surprised nobody has responded. I know this is an audiophile forum, but at some point we all must transition to the 21st century. Functions such as zone management via phone or remote, Wifi, Bluetooth etc. are all functions that should be avai...
'Holographic Sound Stage?'
Mtwhickory, I use to love visiting the Hi-Fi Buys in Buckhead. Bought a couple systems from that store.
which of these 2 subs?
I second the Rythmik recommendation. I prefer the sound of sealed subs over ported designs. I have two 15" Rythmik subs in my HT set-up. They're fast articulate and when set-up in combination will move the entire house. Great for music and movies.
