Seriously considering tube preamp…opinions? I have 4 tube amps. All integrated amps, which I run from a DAC.
Should I sell my DAC My Bluesound Node2i stopped putting sound out the RCA plugs about 6 months. I bought a Qutest. That sounded better, although very bright. I forgot about the Node2i and just called them for service - 13 months after buying. They want near $300 ...
Axe to grind know it alls It may be style, or actual knowledge. There are a lot of parts to audio, so someone having one answer seems a bit out of place. But - I am one of those on cycling forums because I know more than everyone else. I'm near that on soccer forums becau...
Frustrated with Vinly I've done 5 Audiophile group get-togethers in SoCal since September. We have 2-3 good DACs (and 5-6 not so good) several TTs, lots of amps and speakers. One of our guys brings an ultrasonic cleaner. That does make a difference on good/or new reco...
MQA and classical music I have fast internet. I ran both TIDAL and Qobuz for about 6 months. I just canceled TIDAL. TIDAL was $20/month. Qobuz $15/month. I have tried players from both. I use Roon and Audirvan players now from my PC. The payers all sound a wee bit...
Should I still buy a CD player? Suggest one? Consider a DAC and digital - stream or download. You can get as good, or better fidelity and a CD player has a DAC anyway. There are many inexpensive DACs and you can try several. You will need a source like a PC, or other streamer.
Another Analog v. Digital Thread? Not Really A group of SoCal guys, I'm one of them, get together pretty often and compare stuff. We compare amps, tub, SS. Some guys have some really nice stuff. I normally use my Chord Qutest DAC as a source for amps. We recently started comparing DACs a...
Which way do I lean... At this time I'm not trying to buy more speakers - although we will see how that works out for me. I have Watkins Generation 4 on each side of my desk. They sound best maybe 8-20 feet away. I was not thinking of re-purposing them, although th...
US made, integrated tube preamp able to handle KT150 tubes? I do not have his pre-amps, but I have the Elvis and it is excellent.https://www.erhard-audio.com/Ella.html https://www.erhard-audio.com/Aretha.html
What is wrong with a sub? Guess the benefit of being old and new (to audiofile stuff ) is I have not had that issue, which was the reason behind the OP.
What is wrong with a sub? Using my brain, not my ears, seems that the lower freq are just fine located in different locations. I would not buy a full range speaker until I had this figured out. If the speaker is just more cone speakers of different size and the bottom on...
What is wrong with a sub? I bought a smaller REL i7. I was thinking maybe I should go bigger. Assuming the same total $pend...Seems several think having several smaller might be better than one bigger. I expect bigger can go lower Hz. If this was for a home theater, ma...
Bookshelf Bake Off I have Klipsh Herresy. Great, but too big for this category IMO.2nd Watkins Gen 4
Balanced vs RCA between amp/preamp Similar but different topic - I didn't want to start a thread.I want to take my DAC RCA outputs and feed two amps (want to bi-amp my speakers). I'm looking for a y cable that will put out the same signal rather than a left right stereo split. Q2...
SET amplifier recommendation I have a Cary CAD-300SEI and run via Watkins Gen 4 speakers near field - on my desk. I also have an REL sub. Way more power than I need for a small room, even a bigger one. |
