How do the Merlin TSM compare to other speakers
Bobby,I, too, am sorry to hear that your father-in-law passed away. It has been a difficult road that you, your wife and her dad have traveled since the day of that car accident. So…when are these “super BAMs” being shipped out? :)David
How do I go backwards?
Jadem6,You know, a funny thing happened in the time that I sold my Merlin VSM-MM speakers and received my VSM-MX speakers (about a one month time span). In that time, I had a pair of Paradigm Titan v3 bookshelf speakers in one of the basement syst...
Reading the CD Booklet - A Great "Tweak"
Sorry for the late response, but I have been pondering as to how many audiophiles it takes to screw in a light bulb :)Damn Marco. At any rate, because of the more fulfilling experience with music listening knowing the background of the composition,...
How many audiophiles to screw in a light bulb?
Man, that mirror your holding up Marco sure is clean! I have been heavily surfing the audio forums for over 3 years and after reading this, I am grining like a fool but nodding my head. Now close it down dammit, you're pulling people away from the ...
Everyone Knows About Jacintha, Right?
I also have several of her SACD/CDs. Although she uses the same style in almost every song, it is, to me, like having too much French vanilla ice cream. Not going to happen :)
Audiogon "SACD's TO DIE FOR" list
Chuck,They certainly are! I bought all 20 of the RCA Living Stereo SACDs and have been slowly and methodically enjoying them. For the cost of ~$210 US plus shipping, it is, to me, a great deal.
What age did the "audio bug" hit you?
When I was in my mother's womb :) Alright guys, beat that!Really, when I was 33. I bought an inexpensive DVD player because it seemed that video stores were really phasing out their stock of VHS tapes. Well then, the home theater bug hit first... ...
Audiogon "SACD's TO DIE FOR" list
Hey! Just listening to the Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade; Stravinsky: Song of the Nightingale (Living Stereo) for the first time myself last night. It was so capturing, that although I was tired to the point of getting off my chair and lying on t...
HELP Turning off the Left Brain
Third the "buy new music". You don't know what is coming up, thus you cannot really compare it to a known disc. For me, it also helps to have a routine that I look forward to. After the kids are put to bed and my wife is watching TV upstairs, I giv...
What Do You Get When You Spend Megabucks?
Lakefrontroad,I just had a good look at your systems. Not millions, perhaps, but one? :) Very nice!Keep that pointer away from my "system".
Trelja in New York - 2005
Joe,Thank you for the effort and time writing up your review. An enjoyable read.David
Review: Merlin Music Systems VSM-MX Speaker
Good informative review. I have had the last few versions of the VSM's (VSM-SE, VSM-M, and VSM-MM) and have been waiting for my pair of piano black VSM-MX to arrive any day now.I agree with the theory that the Merlin speakers sound outstanding wit...
Joule vzn 80 or 100 for merlins?
Pedrillo,The Joule OTL-based amps are a horrible match for the Merlins (especially the VZN 80). Not only that, but Jud and Marianne Barber are the worst when it comes to customer service.Sigh. OK, all of the OTL amps from Joule-Electra are a fanta...
speaker with high WAF
I third or fourth (?) the recommendation for the Merlins. Go to their website and have a look around. If the MM or MX VSM's are too expensive at this point, the VSM-M can be bought used for a fantastic price.
Is SACD a dead format?
Now everyone tells me that SACD is dead. I just recently purchased 41 SACDs to join my collection. Oh no, wait a minute, I've been reading that for a couple of years now in here and in the Asylum. You know what? For the little extra money that it c...
