Differences between Accuphase C-2820 and C-3800? Hi Bvdiman,Yeah, thanks. The FM has not really been upgraded that much as far as I can tell. It's more of an evolutionary rather than revolutionary changes. I could be wrong, however, since I don't work over there to see what redesigning they did....
Differences between Accuphase C-2820 and C-3800? Well, I used to own FM Acoustics (I bought them 20 years ago; Resolution Series 244C preamp and 611 amp,) and the sound was great. But, I needed more volume, and I set the gain too high on the amp. This caused the amp to go into thermal shutdown w...

Best 5 engineered rock albums? Nice list. I would agree with it!
The best CD Player for the money @ Dmacg: How's the reliability of that player, though. I have heard instances of reliability problems with mid-level stuff like Cambridge (and NAD.)
Speaker recommendations, budget $10-15K Yeah, but only 8 inch woofers in those Acoustic Zen's. Why do many of these high end companies use such small woofers? You can't get good bass outta those, imo. I heard it's because of marketing. And no subwoofer, that's cheating, lol.
Speaker recommendations, budget $10-15K Well, I'll recommend what I got: JBL S4700shttp://www.jblsynthesis.com/Products/Details/149Great rock speaker in the time honored tradition of JBL.List price is: $15,000.You can probably get it for much less, I know I did.Good luck!
Best 5 engineered rock albums? I have to disagree about the Thin Lizzy and Ozzy albums. The best sounding Thin Lizzy is 'Chinatown,' and the best sounding Ozzy is 'Diary of a Madman.' Go for the original LPs for both of these titles...
B&W 801N and Bryston match They're very hard to drive I take it. What does the impedance dip down to on those?
AXPONA anyone? Thanks to everyone for all of the reviews and to Enjoythemusic for the coverage! Much appreciated! :D
JBL S4700s Hi Mapman,Yeah, the match is not too bad. I would like to upgrade, though. To preferably a Class A amp. After hearing Class A amps, I'm hooked on the sound. Anyway, with the Bryston 4BSST amp, bass is pretty good, but soundstaging and mids/highs c...
JBL S4700s Hi Mapman,Very good points. Yeah, that's one of the reasons why I chose JBL; they're not the most boutique or esoteric speakers, but imo, they outperform most of those. I tend to go with companies that have been in the business for a long time, an...
JBL S4700s The sound gets better and better as the days go by. If you're buying new, be prepared for a long, long break in process. They just do not sound good right out of the box. Matter of fact, they're downright disappointing. Overall, I would say this i...
AXPONA anyone? Let us know how the show went? lol. |
