Trans-Siberian Orchestra on Vinyl...
No offense intended, guys, I was just joking around. I have plenty of favorites that others would be rolling on the carpet about.

Impressed with Tubes
Kitjv,I owned a Rotel 980BX amp and RC960(?) preamp about 6 or 7 years ago. While a great value for their price, Rotel definitely errs on the lean side of accurate. Most of the problem was in the preamp stage, I thought. But, in my audio journey si...
Amp for Vandy 3A?
The most obvious choice is Audio Research, it has historically been Richard Vandersteen's brand of choice. My brother has the 3A Sigs and uses an AR 100.2/LS16 preamp and loves it. Perhaps a little more power reserve like the 150.2 or 300.2 might ...
Note worthy Omni Directional Speakers..
Here's a Duevel Planets review on SonicFlare, if anyone is interested.
Note worthy Omni Directional Speakers..
You mean truly 360 degree dispersion speakers? Not many of those below the $8k range. But, they are a few quasi-omni directional speakers with supposed good performance.Decware(pic) has the RL-1.5 Radial Speaker - 92dB, 37Hz ~ 22kHz, 4 ~ 100 watts,...
Soundsmith Strain Gage Cartridge system
There was a post on Audio Aslyum's Vinyl forum about the Strain Gauge system. They compared it to the Lyra Olympos and Koetsu Tiger Eye.
Ohm Speakers, thoughts?
Thanks for the info, Dale.I've had steadily growing interest in the Walsh speakers for a few years now as a result of the serious room acoustics/placement problems I've had with varying pistonic speakers. I'm just tired of the hassle. And when thi...
Ohm Speakers, thoughts?
Just to throw a curveball into this discussion - how about the Wolcott Omni-Directional speakers?Wolcott supposedly makes some of the most impressive high-power tube amps available, I wonder if this extends to their speaker?
Stereophile - MF Supercharger article-add 550W/ch.
Along the same lines, check out the 6Moons review of Nelson Pass's First Watt F4 current drive amplifier. 50wpc stereo, 110wpc balanced monoblocks. Although, the design can easily be scaled up or down from that output. In the review, Srajan runs a ...

Preamp Deal of the Century
Slightly OT: Has this thread set the record for most posts? Or, was it the Lenco rebuilding thread?
the smoothest sounding speaker
Good point, Ozzy.Might be worth swapping the Denon mini-system for a good tubed integrated amp, then getting speakers.
the smoothest sounding speaker
Jean Marie Reynaud speakers - ultra smooth and rich presentation with great detail, just not hyper-etched.
