best artists in the last 15 years
That's a lot of territory to cover -- You're going back to 1993. You might be more specific about who you like from before 1993 and then we could recommend similar artists. In jazz, I think there are the biggies: Diana Krall, Brad Mehldau, Christi...
Martin Logan Aerius with spikes instead of feet
Even on my hard tile floors, the ETC spikes dramatically improved my SL3's. i'd also highly recommend it.
Silliest audiophile equipment of all time?
The Gingko isolation device makes a great item, can hardly see how that is silly. (Although it does "look" sllly when you open the top, but I love mine.
Opinions on Mogami Cable?
I used a Mogami XLR as an interconnect between preamp and amp for a short period. While it worked, it sounded more than a little thin and metallic to me. As soon as I replaced it with a Harmonic Technology Truthlink Silver, it was obvious that it ...
How does Bel Canto compare to BAT?
Like belgian chocolate vs tahitian vanilla I had a BAT VK-200 (slightly underpowered for my Martin Logan SL3) but a wonderful amp, rich with a great tone, but still detailed and accurate. I replaced it with a pair of Bel Canto evo 200.2's in monob...
Cheapest Sweetest deal you've found
Pair of Bel Canto Evo 200.2 amps for $1,000 total. I love those amps!
Who is your favorite jazz pianist
Bill Evans, Monk, Vince Guaraldi, Jessica Williams
ML Aerius or SL3's?
I have the SL3's and bought them at the time because the larger stat gave more of the ML sound, and I like the better bass extension. I agree that it is, all other things being equal, superior. However, if you have a small space and value cohesion...
Can you test my internet radio station please
Works, but keeps rebuffering every 10-20 seconds or so. Sounds like something I'd like for background music while working. I'll bookmark and check back!
Cash burning a hole What to upgrade?
I used to have an Acurus RL-11 and A250, and while I like them a lot at the time, upgrading was a good move. You should consider moving up from your DIA. How about a Classe integrated?
Anyone else like Nick Drake ?
Thought of another one -- Alexi Murdoch -- very much in the Nick Drake vein. Jose Gonzalez another good one. Also, it's funny -- I do think of the early Joni Mitchell in the same vein, though on the surface there's little similar other than using ...
Anyone else like Nick Drake ?
David Sylvian. Blemish fits what you're describing, and is both bleak and beautiful. Not for beginners, but if you're already there, a great album. Otherwise, I'd start with Dead Bees on a Cake, or Brilliant Trees. I'll second Iron and Wine. If yo...
Source for DVD Downloads
Netflix (they have a view online version) and Amazon Unbox come to mind. Of course, iTunes works well also. I'm assuming you're looking to watch on the computer. If you're just looking for free TV, consider Joost as well.
Stand out phono stages
Any opinions here on the Graham Slee Era Gold V? I have the baby Slee and love it, but wonder what/how much I'm missing...
Compendium of retail LP stores
I have to put in a plug for my Bay Area favorites: Amoeba (SF and Berkeley) The Beat (Sacramento, and worth the drive)Rasputin's (Several locations, some better than others, great prices, good selection) Analogue Den in San Jose is recommended, th...
