Just how much do speakers suppose to vibrate?
I put the 6" drivers from my vibrating B&W DM 14's in my B&W Matric cabinets, ad they sound much cleaner with the wine rack innards to damp the vibration. I put 803 drivers in the DM 14 cabinets and they got muddy.Reversed for good.
What is going on? No-one buys good stuff priced right.
I have a pile of stuff to sell when the season changes. I can't wait.
Upgrade my DAC or buy more weed?
Last Friday, I saw Alice Cooper in Fort Lauderdale. There is no way a better DAC would have made the experience better.Your alternative choice did just that.Unfortunately, when I returned home to a 250 wpc stereo powering B&W 803's I had a midr...
Subwoofers.... one 10" or two 8"?
I have tried both, with varying, but excellent results with each. For 25 years, I had some six foot tall electrostatics which originally had very sloppy cone subs. I also had a pair of NHT subs I hated.I found some Peerless 8' and 10" sandwich cone...
What is more accurate: magnetic anti-skating, or barrel weight attached a fishline?
It seems that my Signet arm has a bias built in for the record radius. A weight is at the end of an arm that is leveraged differently depending on the tone arm position. There is very little difference, but it is measurable. The answer to the quest...
Thiel Owners
I was always a Thiel fan until I tried to get help with a problem. I emailed them 20 or so times and never heard back. Now I have a piece that sits in a closet with equally dead AV receivers.
Best Small Floorstanding Speaker under $2K
Used B&W Nautilus or S 803's.
Bi-amping Rules
I prefer two identical amps and preamps. This way, I can adjust the bass or recordings lacking such. I tried alternate ideas, but there is a tradeoff with phasing.
ok im opening pandoras box here.(treatment vs framed wall art)
Glass is way too bright. I prefer the short, thick, wave diminishing brushstrokes of French Impressionists. My Haitian paintings help, too, but Haiti is a poor country, and the painters conserve too much paint to really scramble the waveforms.Tee ...
Loudspeakers have we really made that much progress since the 1930s?
No discussion. Stronger frames, magnets, cones, and flat wound voice coils rule, unless you are using the power of a 1930's amp.
Solid core Versus Stranded Speaker cables
I tried 10 gauge solid copper wire. Hated it!
Subwoofer hunt
I think for the size room you have a pair of really good Peerless sandwich cone 8 inchers would be good, I used them in my hybrid electrostatic cabinets ad they were wonderful I had the 10" version with my B&Ws (in NHT Sw2Si cabinets and some ...

Help wanted: Bass!
I agree that a sub is a less than perfect solution. I cheated by using identical amps and preamps, respectively for my mains and some good woofers for subs. I have complete control of how much bass I use without any crossover distortion. After man...
Should I buy a Class A Amp.
Here is something to ponder: You can't buy them, but Audire made both class A and Class A/B amps with the same basic parts. The A/B was twice the power, 200 vs 100 wpc (Parlando and Otez). Their designer, Julius Siksnius, an honest to god rocket s...
