Anyone under 30? YES! I am 23, started wish a [yuck] Bose system when I was 19. Quickly upgraded to some Martin Logan Aerius about a year later. Six months after that, I bought some Thiel 2.3s and an Audio Research D-130. I also acquired a Sonic Frontiers Line 2 a...
What kind of power needed for Martin Logans? I very much agree that a high current aamp is required. I currently have SL3s with an Audio Refinement Multi 3 amp, it works great. I've heard MLs with all sorts of amps - I used to have Aerius with an ARC D-130 which also worked well. I've even h...
Mark Levinson No.37 and 36s Vurs ML 39 CD Player The 39 uses similar DACs as the 36 models(but not the exact same), and has the identical transport as the 37. I would also suggest going to the 390s if possible, but you'd be happy with any of the three, I assure you!
Martin Logan HT-What pre-pro amp I have SL3s and a Logos in front hooked to an Audio Refinement amp and a Classe SSP25! I bought some Maggies for the rear right now - I plan on moving the SL3s to the rear eventually and getting Ascents or Odysseys in the front along with a better...
Spkr Cable for Martin Logan SL3s I have mine shotgunned with Goertz MI3 cables, I like them but haven't tried anything else recently. A dealer I know recommends Transparent.Good luck
Can $15,000 Sound As Good As $75,000? YES! I had a $40k system - B&W N802, Levinson 333 and 39, VPI HW19 Mk4, etc. (http://audioasylum.thenephilim.net - go to "People" and "Danish") I sold everything and went to a "budget" HT system, Martin Logan SL3s, Logos, Classe pre/pro, Audio...
Whats better Nautilus 802 or 801 I agree with the above post. I bought 802s for the exact same reasons - tighter bass and more articulation. The decreased weight and size are also a plus, much nicer looking are the 802s. Have heard them with a 80W CJ tube amp and I ran them with ...
interconnect help I made a pair of Chris VenHaus' recipe interconnects. Cost me about $80 or so, I like them a lot. Pretty easy to make if you can solder somewhat decently. Obviously everyone has a different opinion so good luck picking one out of the many!
Magnepan MMG Assistance Needed I would start with the speakers at least 3 feet or so from the back wall given the length of your room. I found the imaging to be a little too random with a live wall, deadening it seemed to focus the image a little more, but that's just me. In yo...
Need advise on audio research They make great stuff, I used to have their solid state D130 amp. Most ARC pieces I've heard have a sweet midrange and sound very smooth. I'd look for cables elsewhere though.
Anthem MCA5 I also considered the Anthems but ended up buying an Audio Refinement Multi series because of the dealer's suggestion - yes, he sells the Anthems also.
Mobile Fidelity CD s I have ALL the Pink Floyd's and they seem to be great recordings. I also have U2 The Unforgettable Fire, which is only an average quality recording. I have a few of the LPs which all sound pretty good.
Need advice on Bryston B-60 Just get it Morg!
Kef Reference series any good I'd try to find the "older" Reference series. . . 104/2 for example. The new models are skimpy on quality in my opinion. Can get a used pair of 104/2 for $700-$800
Martin logan prodigies When I listened to them, I found that they extended pretty darn low. They also have a switch to help against a 50Hz suckout (which many rooms have) - but again I didn't see any trouble in the bass - I didn't like the soundstage though - it was pus... |
