Touche, Arthur! :) The iron in my Lectron is excellent, but the intricacies of the signal from the catridge have already been flushed out by then. And apologies to all for my over-simplistic, barely intelligible attempts at explaining why I don't t...
Crossover Volume Level
I agree that measuring the drivers individually is the way to do crossover development. If one is measuring what is happening in the room both speakers should be used.

You're putting words in my mouth, Herman. I said nothing about a lower amplitude limit. The entire signal does not get through a transformer intact and what does get through is changed. It is even more evident with low output MC cartridges. If you...

You've got it right, Herman. Those very tiny variations in frequency aren't always going to be able to be reproduced on the other windings. Now, put those tiny fluctuations on an even smaller signal and they really get lost. It's a smoothing effect.

I'd have to respectfully disagree with Aball. I'm also an E.E. I would agree that transformers are usually a better choice sonically than op-amps. Tubes seem to be about the least desirable way to do a high gain stage. As Doug said, it's really al...

If you're tweaking crossovers you really should think about getting a mic to measure exactly what the drivers are doing. You can get setup with a good test mic, like a Behringer ECM8000, mic preamp, and cables for about $150 and possibly e able to...
Subsonic filter wish and a solution
That's what I meant. The sub-sonics are still there. Your sub will be trying to reproduce whatever signal is sent to it.

You don't have all of the facts. Just what Ehaller is posting.I don't care who anyone buys from. I've bought from all of the vendors listed here. That is a completely different issue than to say "I didn't get my way so I'm going to suggest they do...

Hey Pawlowski. You seem to be of the same mindset as Ehaller so why don't you make everything right and reimburse him for his shipping charges? Ehaller has a history of returning things to businesses who then can't seem to find anything wrong with...

Well, thanks for explaining that to me, Pawlowski. I would never have caught on to what point Ehaller was trying to make.Pawlowski, since you seem to be so in tune with Ehaller. Can you explain to all of us what a warped sleeve is?

I have never had anything but the BEST service from Acoustic Sounds. The few times I have found it necessary to return an LP to them because of defects they have been very helpful and have done whatever it took to satisfy my concern. Now, you're t...

Any one into IQ
Thanks for the tip, Qdrone. I've been holding out for OT on vinyl but I really should bolster my ceedee collection.Yeah, Fish really brought a different sound to Marillion. But there is great music from them both with and without Fish.
the dreaded breaking of tonearm wire...now what?
Michael Percy Audio. They have the clips, heat shrink and lots of wire to choose from. The Litz wire is a bit of a pain to work with and it may not necessarily sound better. But they have a good selection to choose from.
