Thoughts on cartridge loading with a SUT.
Excellent information! Thanks Dave! I can't believe more folks have not responded.
Preference for separate phono stages?
I believe a single chassis CAN be compromised. I believe a separate pre and phono CAN also be compromised. It all comes down to implementation. Additional compromises CAN be too many components in the signal path, remote volume control, single vol...
Help all ye Triplanar Gurus
I think Sunny was wise, coming into this forum, and asking of our help, advice, and thoughts. Wise, yes. Right up until his post of 11/20 when panic set in and he started his little temper tantrum about poor customer service.I don't believe Sunny ...
Ever demag a cart this way?
Thanks for the link and expert input, Jonathan! Especially the warnings concerning Alnico magnets, which my XV-1s has. I'm going to try your suggestion of shorting channel outputs to grounds at the tonearm leads using a shorted pair of rca female ...
Help all ye Triplanar Gurus
This is not bad service but a complete disregard of the customer. Did you not post this?I understand completely your frustration with the situation. But you obviously jumped to a worst cast conclusion without getting all the facts. You publicly ra...
Help all ye Triplanar Gurus
Tri's integrity wasn't questioned (but now the whole ISP excuse makes one wonder). I challenged the supposition that cottage industry vendors shouldn't be expected to provide good customer service and that waiting for 2 weeks for a response was re...
Help all ye Triplanar Gurus
Good on you, Ralph!
Help all ye Triplanar Gurus
It never ceases to amaze me how people can expect support just like calling Sear's from cottage industry suppliers. I doubt that Tri has even a part-time assistant and I'd be very surprised if making Triplanars is his main source of income. Hell, ...
Zero Stat Gun
How do you know it is static that you are hearing?Using the Zerostat prior to play doesn't guarantee you of anything as static can build up during play. I only use the Zerostat after a play. It only takes one squeeze per side.
Technics SL1200: Baerwald or 1200 white gauge?
Both the Ken Willis and MintLP protractors are arch-style. But they are not exactly the same. The extra features of the MintLP are, IMO, worth the extra bucks.
Technics SL1200: Baerwald or 1200 white gauge?
Rtollert,You'll need a lot more mathematics than that to worry me. :-)Seriously, I don't dispute anything you have offered. I believe we are all aware that there are many, many forces acting on our cartridges. Some we can do something about, many ...
Technics SL1200: Baerwald or 1200 white gauge?
HI Mark,Naw, you're not rude in the least. I live near Boston. Trust me. I know rude. ;-) It is often hard to get meanings across through forum posts. This is especially true for me since I am pretty challenged with the written word. Dammit Jim! I...
Newbie Analog High Expectations??
Hi Cory,If you like to tinker you will love LP playback. It is work, from finding good copies, to how to store them, to how to get to the most, to how to maintain what you do set up. Vinyl is work but it can be very rewarding.Unless you feel the n...
Technics SL1200: Baerwald or 1200 white gauge?
Mark, Alignment, especially with the MintLP, is never done. It is impossible to reach "done". But each of us is certainly within our individual freedom to decide "I don't want to keep trying for more, what I have achieved now is good enough for me...
Technics SL1200: Baerwald or 1200 white gauge?
I would like to welcome Siniy123 and Rtollert to A'gon. I see you both are relatively new here and I hope you both will continue to share your knowledge with the rest of us. Hopefully, you can learn from us and we can learn from you. Rtollert is c...
