DaVinci Tonearm Thomas, can you order me one, too? I don't have a table yet but I'm currently collecting tonearms. :) Three and counting!
Should I purchase an expensive phono preamp I'm using Paradigm Studio 60's in my HT. They're not bad. I wouldn't necessarily use them in an audio system but I don't think the Paradigm's will hinder your enjoyment of music. I have heard some of the newer Monster Cable IC's that you can pick ...
Should I purchase an expensive phono preamp I'm not sure if you can easily swap cables on the Rega. Mine is a continuous run, but it is a Brit Audio RB 250.
I miss my Rega turntable. What to do? Get it a try it out against the Music Hall. You'll be able to sell the MMF 5 easily, assuming it is in good shape. I had a MMF 7 for a while. Great table for the money, but I came to realize it does sound just a bit dark. There are perhaps more ca...
Best phono pre amp for Lyra Helikon If you're contemplating a Manley I wouldn't keep thinking about the EAR. Although good for the money, the EAR is no where near the same league as Manley or the P10SE that John mentioned. I'm not familiar with the other two you mentioned. It would ...
Speaker Distortion or Room Interaction ? I'm not familiar with your speakers, but I have some power hungry Aerial 10t's. I found a very large improvement by going to multiple amps. First, 2 Classe SS amps at 300watts. Each amp was vertically wired so each served a channel. Now I'm using ...
Balanced Y Adapters--Where to Find You may want something better since you're using Levinson, but I've good results from my Cobalt Cable Y's. Very cost effective. I bought a pair of these to use with my Norost SPM interconnects while I saved up for another interconnect pair for the...
Help Viridian will a Denon 103 work in a Rega arm Yep, I've never tried the plain vanilla 103, but based on what has been posted near and far it would be worth the price the find out.As far as VTF, I though 1.7 - 2.0 sounded better than the heavier Denon suggested range. That said, it could also ...
Help Viridian will a Denon 103 work in a Rega arm Did you guys ever see the "DougDeacon VTF Adjustment Tool" for Rega's using TWL's HiFi mod? A.K.A, a heavy paper clip bent into an arch that spans above the bearings and attaches at both ends to the weights. Moving it back and forth would add or s...
Help Viridian will a Denon 103 work in a Rega arm I have found the 103R to not be very interested in VTA. I tried it on an RB250, Graham 2.2 and Basis Vector. I varied VTA quite a bit (within reason) and just never really found much difference than having the cartridge level. So lack of VTA may n...
Sumiko Celebration Arming Yes, the Vector is a great arm. It is very stable and as Monk said it can be tuned far more than many people realize. I have not tried the Vector/Celebration combo but the compliance is close to the Benz Glider that I have tried on the Vector. I f...
Ideal TT & Arm for the following top cartridges... Did Raul just make a joke about "getting the one that goes to 11"?Raul, have you ever seen the movie Spinal Tap? :)
How to set SRA after determining true vertical? Simple applied trigonometry. I just can't seem to think like an engineer any more after all these years of writing software. Thanks again, Neil.
How to set SRA after determining true vertical? Got it, Neil. The calculation makes perfect sense. Guess I was expecting that you had marked up some tiny protractor or something. I just have to run the numbers for a different arm length. This seems like another good method for getting started a...
Bi Amp Works great for me. SS on the bottom, tubes on top. Biggest thing you have to look for is getting gains of the amps as close as possible. Sometimes this requires attenuators or active crossovers. |
