Anyone familiar with the Manger driver?
Well EssentialAudio I have to ask based on this comment, cause I am assuming you actually know something technical about audio gear not just brand names."That is not to say the Manger drivers do not have their merits"Like what? What are their "mer...
Anyone familiar with the Manger driver?
7 years ago I built an active DSP based Manger system with a custom Scanspeak driver (not the paper one manger uses, yech). And it was righteous. Imagine Sound Labs U-1's with clarity and bass...you get the idea.Manger driver is like a formula one...
Tapping the Planet it skipps.....
Rega CD players are 2nd rate in everyway, if it wasn't a top loading cd player nobady would rememeber it.
When is digital going to get the soul of music?
"I recall a study by RCA Labs in the nacent days of "HIFI" (late 40s, early 50s) in which they found that listeners preferred a mellow sound, and expecially disliked extended high frequenices." Just more ignored information from so long ago. and w...
High Current / Low Current / No Current ??????
"Damping factor is an old myth that has many advocates."All I have to say to this is, you can't measure a myth."The simple fact of the matter is that damping factor has marginal effect on most drivers."In your opinion. Since your amplifiers have l...
Not wasting my time on new Digital
Hey Snipes,Sorry for the lag time, let me answer your questions first;"What genre of music do you primarily listen to?" It easier to describe what I don't listen too, I don't listen to Brubeck, Davis, DeMeola (GRP) type jazz, Very little country, ...
When is digital going to get the soul of music?
Mmakshak,That's too vague, help me out with some links to the Absolute Sound article. Was it Clapton Unplugged?"What about a slight delay making the guitar sound too fast on 2-channel, but making sense on surround?"A delay could make the guitar st...
kharma 3.2 & sub...
Yes, and since I build speakers similar to the 3.2 with Accuton drivers, I have zero difficulty with integration. IWhat is the problem is the same thing Seas Mag Excel driver guys have is the tremendously low distortion afforded by Accuton neo and...
High Current / Low Current / No Current ??????
The way Atma-sphere describe the use of "high current" is incorrect. High Current amplifiers enjoy the ability of being able to return a driver to its resting point better than a low current amplifier.A quick way to describe this is high current a...
kharma 3.2 & sub...
Its not a problem to add a sub to the 3.2, although I would not recommend the Kharma sub unless you like your bass to oooze.Kharma's a very flexible and easy to use with a sub and I disagree with all the advice you have received so far about your ...

No, snipes, I just assumed you hadn't heard it that is all.And my writing meant to imply that you're welcome to come see/ hear anytime and ask more questions. It was to be a friendly invitation, not a desuasion or persuasion.Just bad writing :(Ask...

Hey Snipes, A quik answer, YES!!! My very budget surround system linked in my audiogon info, has "blown away" 2 channel systems that cost more. I put blown away in quotes because that is the same quote used by four different people after hearing t...
Upgrading HT Receiver and Speakers
Well Brit,You should get a sealed speaker, Blue Sky and ATC make affordable speakers that I know work well.Blue Sky has the amplification built in so you could get an Arcam AVP-700 to run them. But you prewire is an issue as you would need to run ...
Upgrading HT Receiver and Speakers
You're spending too much on the receivers in 2 & 3, you don't need the 300 and its bad advice not to buy seperates at that price point.Drop down the Arcam line to the lower receivers and move up to Totem Model 1's. This combo will outperform a...

Quadraphonic on 4 track tape like all types of recordings had good, and bad. I've heard some very good Quadraphonic recordings. The limitation of Quad was more at the end user/retail interface and the LP. Which has proven to be a weak surround sou...
