any new Beatle fans because of the remasters? It wasn't only the music, it was an entire cultural movement. I lived through it, and in my opinion, some of these posts are obviously from people that don't know what they are talking about. It's like some 14 year old trying to explain WWII to a ...
any new Beatle fans because of the remasters? People that weren't there when it happened cannot understand and their intellectual arguments are without merit to those who experienced that historical era.
Power Condition Rogue Stereo 90? Arch, aside from the power conditioner, you may want to change your cables. I used Lat cables for a long time and they are pretty good, but Anticables are much better and probably less expensive than what you paid for the Lats. They really will op...
Tube amp- bang for the buck of new breed Check out Rogue Audio.
Double Albums/CDs, curse or blessing? If the material is not good then the double album may be a curse. I know I have a few that I only play a few songs on one album and nothing on the other. I actually like Stadium Arcadium. You mentioned the Who and I would have to include Quadrophe...
So, What is the Verdict on the Beatles Box Sets? I really thought that i would be able to keep my two cents out of this post, but I just couldn't. I have both the stereo versions and the mono versions. I've been listening to the Beatles for as long as I can remember. The mono and stereo versions...
Do you ever wonder? Thanks, Tvad. Does that still work?
Do you ever wonder? I never understood Americas fascination with Frank Sinatra. My father was a big fan, but I just never got Sinatra and I almost question why I don't when so many others do.
Do you ever wonder? Not everyone on your list appeals to me either, especially Michael Bolton. However, in my opinion, all of the people and band on your list are talented and do appeal to others. Maybe you don't agree that they have talent?

Beatles Remasters: Mono vs. Stereo Debate Thread George Martin remixed the Beatles catalogue for the 87/88 release of the Beatles on CD. These 87/88 remaixes are the ones that were used for the new remasters and not the original stereo mixes that were used when vinyl ruled.
What is tube rolling? One of the oldest of audio addictions in the quest for perfect sound. the addiction is gradual and eventually leads to bankruptcy, but at a much slower pace than power cables, interconnects, and speaker cables!
Beatles: Mono a Mono Hi Jim, As with my assessment of the 87 stereo CD's vs the new stereo remastered CDs, the mono remasters of the first four are superior in every way to the 87 mono cd's exactly as described by Jaybo. The new remasters sound like the albums I liste...
Is this clipping or just high SPL? Hard to say if it's the amp or the speakers, but next time don't let 10 seconds elapse before turning the volume down.
Do tubes need break in / burn in? 12AX7 has a gain factor of 100, while a 5751 has a gain factor of 70, which may be the reason that your preamp sounds so poorly. Try using some NOS 12AX7's instead of the 5751's. |
