MANIC Pop, Funk, Soul, R B and R R
Tireguy, I have heard the Brand New Heavies and think they are very pleasant and lively band, although a bit trendy and I am not so sure they will age well. Nonetheless, I used their CDs very successfully when entertaining nubile, young guests dur...
I need the more better digital
I never met a digital component I liked. It would be nice to know if any of these more better suggestions are less than $10,000.
Out of Control
I am very curious about the pass amps -- other than the air inside, do they sound good? Or is Pass a case study for "out of control?"
Best 5K HiFi system for Cwlondon
You guys are great! Don't know where the $5K came from, but I find it a very tricky budget that perfectly illustrates my theory of the audiophile dead zone. That part of the price/performance curve, in my experience, is the crack cocaine of our ho...
What is in a Naim ?
I have a Naim Nait II with Rega mini monitors in my bedroom. Sounds OK for my audiophile clock radio, but for serious listening I find it bright enough to drill holes in granite. What's in a Naim? In this case, ordinary parts, a wimpy power supply...
Who has seen this equipment before?
Does this equipment relate to the earlier "Retail Price" thread? Are these the slippery ads with the PT Barnum esque "STATE OF THE ART, DUAL CHASSIS BLAH BLAH BLAH", retail value $500,000,000 can be yours if you act now for only..... P.S. It's DEN...
a dvd worth buying
Meet the Parents didn't really grab me, but I could put almost anything by Alfred Hitchcock, Stanley Kubrick or the Coen brothers on repeat and watch it indefinitely.
HELP I THINK IM IN OVER MY HEAD
Kweisner for President!!!
It is frustrating.....
"the typical person going to the symphony to be seen"....I think I might throw up! While there seem to be many different suggestions for excellent music in the NYC area, is there a consensus on which symphony or venue is most likely to attract the...
Any Famous people on Audiogon ?
Rich and famous people care about the conspicuous comsumption of houses, clothes, cars, boats, travel, and maybe on occasion food and wine. Nobody cares about audio -- any more than cheerleader went to the prom with the AV geek in high school.
Best SACD player?
Cornfedboy, thanks for the suggestion. I will check it out and it seems that the probability of SACD going bust is greater than zero percent. I guess the one good thing about format confusion is that the prices of a lot of nifty gear will eventual...
Why Don't More People Love Audio?
Mr Whitehead: You seem to have more money than sense. Let me guess -- Investment banking? Rolex Presidential? With diamonds, perhaps? If you weren't so smug and self satisfied, perhaps your education would be broader than rereading financial state...
Top Ten Tube PreAmp of all time?
Do most of you agree that the SP-10 is better than an SP-11? Is it a one or two chassis unit? I had an SP-9 MK I (?) which was just fine but didn't exactly make me weak at the knees.
Classics and Cults. Bogus Journalism?
With respect to these talented geniuses blowing up their businesses, do you think any of them were sensible, smart businessmen? Or was the problem that they were passionate but creative and difficult mad scientists? Is the audio business that toug...
The Back Street Boys of Classical??
Your info is exactly what I was hoping to hear. AlexC, he did mention Bartok as someone worthy of his high trained ears. I have found Bartok challenging, but I have always enjoyed Tchaikovsky and find his music very accessible. Kurtisjeffers, your...
