Electronics for Harbeths -- $5-10K
arafiq: I didn’t mean to hurt anybody’s feelings. The biggest reason I went with Ayre is because SO MANY Harbeth owners recommended it as a perfect match sonically.. That recommendation came up again & again in postings here & elsewhere. (...

I have a situation very similar to yours.  I'm using a $2000 A/V receiver for multichannel sources and wanted to upgrade my front speakers with higher-quality electronics; primarily for handling stereo sources like LP, SACD, Tidal. I've spent two...

Final solution is starting to look like the Ayre EX-8. I’ve been doing a deep dive into so many options for over the last month. But now that the smoke is clearing it looks like this 24lb sliding Class A (sliding to AB, not D!) integrated checks e...
Is there a way to switch one set of speakers between two sound systems?
deep+333: Your last comment is right on the money.  Unfortunately, I don't have that option.  I can only buy without actually hearing beforehand, not even a showroom demo. FWIW, I'm learning that the Ayre EX-8 integrated may make all these questi...
Is there a way to switch one set of speakers between two sound systems?
boomerbillone: Yes, I used to be a hobbyinst, building, updating, & restoring tube gear & electrostatic speakers.  But I'm afraid that I"m too old for that now.  The last time I held a soldering iron, my hands were simply too shaky to work...

bassdude: Whoa, you're speaking my language!  The H590 was definitely on my short list.  It's only real drawback is that it weighs 50 pounds, but that alone wouldn't be a dealbreaker. And since the release of the H600,  used units abound.  Try to...

mofojo: >No digital sources needed because you play nothing digital or you have a good DAC?  The latter.  And in generaly, I try to stay away from internal DACs bundled into other components.

Thanks, dweller.  I hope to take a look at those BAT models tonight. And Plinius, for that matter. I'm finding that bel Canto's E1X integrated may be another contender.  So far, Ayre's EX-8 (can't they come up with more distinct model names?) lo...

One new candidate is Ayre Acoustics's Series 8 line. The new VX-8 power amp just got a great review in Stereophile, although the corresponding preamp may not be a great fit. However, the updated EX-8 2.0 integrated looks pretty close to a perfect...

Oh boy -- woke up this morning to find all these reeplies!  Thanks, everybody!! Hope I don't miss anybody: Jimmy: I'm up in the air re: Benchmark.  I hear so many good things about both models, but I still wonder: At that price point, could they...

deadhead1000: You're the second person to tell me that Luxman Class A complements Harbeths C7 & 30.x models well. Art Dudley recommended Harbeth when I was forced to sell my Quad ESL & Quad II Class A monoblocks.  He mentioned that, in hi...
Is there a way to switch one set of speakers between two sound systems?
The deeper I get into this, the more it seems as though it’s not a good idea. While some people are giving me some very good suggestions, just as many are telling me (here & elsewhere) that a switch box is to be avoided at all costs. So maybe...
Is there a way to switch one set of speakers between two sound systems?
deep+333: I see that Luxman also made what appears to be a stripped-down version with remote (the AS-50R) that is selling "new" for $300-350.
Is there a way to switch one set of speakers between two sound systems?
gpgr4blu: That’s an interesting suggestion. But I think that there would be interaction between the output stages (and the cables) in most cases, even if one amp was powered down. I see Beresford also made a similar device. I guess they’re out th...
Is there a way to switch one set of speakers between two sound systems?
I see that Adcom & Van Alstine also made switching boxes -- all discontinued now, of course! -- but it's possible that some of them switch speakers, not amps.
