Need advice on a tube line stage Personally I'd just stay away from the Chinese made ones. There are so many great choices.
The best speaker you ever heard? Went to listen in DC this week to a bunch of new stuff for me. Some I've heard in the past and others....not at all. Quick hits:Proac D30R is one of the first ribbons I've heard done correctly. What a sweet sounding and dynamic speaker. It is a re...
Need advice on a tube line stage Your list is a good one overall IMHO. I'm about to sell my full service Quick pre (have a strong potential buyer at least) and I've loved it. IMO, it actually betters the new remote one if it's in good shape still. I may look for one of those used...
Which would you choose? I too spent plenty of time with each and didn't like them either. I ended up with a Quicksilver preamp and loved it after an MIT rewire. I think that technology has come way too far. The ML,while better than both was still a bit dark compared to g...
Comparision: Modwright, Counterpoint, Aesthetix totally different price points. Which Quick was it? For that price it must have been the line stage only Quick, which to me was their worst product. I am selling (think it just sold) the Quick full function pre..their first one. That pre was very ...
Thinking about getting into vinyl again... Sounds like a nice rig. I heard the Lynn and Rega 6 today with Vandy Quattro's. loved em both. Totally different sounds. I won't say which one I liked best, but the Vandy's ROCKED.
Thinking about getting into vinyl again... Rega's are still a great table for the money. Do you care more about looks or how it sounds and stands up over time? I stopped by to see John at Audio Connection yesterday on my way to Philly (I'm in CT) and I walk out of there with a Heed phono s...
Gingko Isolation platforms Got the Cloud 11 from Gingko. It's what they are using at Audio Connection under all their tables and their set ups are stellar. Those of you who hang out there can vouch for that as John knows how to set stuff up to sound the best. I'm pretty exc...
LZ Reissues - HD digital or LP? I realized how much I loved vinyl recently and got a new table, phono, cart yesterday. I don't have many digital to vinyl records as I never liked them as much and on the table I'm selling I could still tell the difference. It all depends on your ...
Gingko Isolation platforms Honestly, I have an old small stand that I can use to put my TT out. That's why I am looking. I never use anything under my SS stuff to be honest. I have a good cabinet with decent wooden shelves that are fine. I need the platform for this small s...
Best speaker cable for Krell/Dynaudio? I think your best bet if you can't hear others is go with AQ which is the most neutral. You just can't go wrong with them. If you aren't happy after putting them in, then it's on the components, lol...and you have some nice gear. Let us know what ...
Gingko Isolation platforms LOL... I don't have buckets of anything, lol. I have used sorbothane pucks in the past on my tube gear and they worked well. Whenever I've tried home made vibration devices, I've lost bass or soundstaging etc.... I think that there is something to...
Best speaker cable for Krell/Dynaudio? I think that the AQ will be the most neutral of all of them. If you have confidence in your components, you'll want the AQ's. Most will tell you that. I'd try to check all of them in your system too in order to see which ones you like the best.
LZ Reissues - HD digital or LP? Great. Have you heard it on the same system vs the vinyl pressings? That would blow you away I bet.
Personal speaker evolution Yes, this really is an interesting thread and I would love to see others post on it. |
