Relationship of amplifier sound to transformer quality? Right, but now they will be doubled up on each channel. Or that will not change inrush?
Relationship of amplifier sound to transformer quality? I will probably need to install a soft start?
Relationship of amplifier sound to transformer quality? @speedskatere,this is for ss psu. @imhififan...So in this configuration, would it be beneficial to increase C to 20,000uf total for each psu, total 40,000uf per pair of psu? Or keep each psu at 13,600? TIA
Relationship of amplifier sound to transformer quality? I should point out I'm not interested in redundant operation. I want increased power/current/va rating
Relationship of amplifier sound to transformer quality? Do you mean at the outputs of the amp/speaker connections? What value would be suitable?
Relationship of amplifier sound to transformer quality? First of all, hope you are all well. Old thread but a question came up I know you guys can answer. Jim Stuart of Meridian made a comment years ago when asked about the 'lean' nature of the old Meridian 105 monos. He said what they need is a bigger...
amp clipping earlier than usual? I set the bias to 120ma as per spec. However the late Dr. Marshall Leach was aware a hotter setting is preferable to some and did state it could be safely set as high as 200ma. So there is a wide safe margin. The psu caps are good quality Sprague ...
amp clipping earlier than usual? I have some limited skill in electronics, mostly with good direction. I can replace the caps no problem. I have LTP transistors on the way anyway. Offset is a bit high for my liking so I will take care of both issues at the same time. It's just th...
amp clipping earlier than usual? Right. They seem to be the ones that are usually kept in place during rebuild. I guess they are more robust than the smaller ones.
amp clipping earlier than usual? Well, the only caps not replaced are the large ones in the psu which I just happen to have Kendeil replacements for. But is there a way to be sure?
amp clipping earlier than usual? Hi Elizabeth. I should mention the transformer in that amp is 120deg F while the other is 112deg at idle
amp clipping earlier than usual? Thanks guys. No pre, Oppo CDP direct. So yes, switched ICs and speaker cables. These amps are completely rebuilt about 4 years ago.Ralph- yeah, more like 3db, noticeable. But if there's no distortion, and not a blown output(maybe yes?), what could...
amp clipping earlier than usual? Hey Ralph. Actually, that amp seems to be down about 2db. I switched sides to check. I have several of these sets so I'm certain.
The most important factor in soundstage imaging If you've ever taken the time to actually tune in your speakers' placement, you will have gotten to know them very well by then and discovered that symmetric but very precise alignment is necessary to even approach their capability. You have about...
Speaker vibration control device No spikes, you don't want them stabbing themselves. Perhaps soft foam on the corners of the speakers with bungie chords. Can't be too safe. |
