Shopping CD players: my big adventure
right on ben! i was about to comment upon the very same gratuitous, inane comment. all the rest mr. kitch has to say is colored for me by that remark. what's more, anyone who is willing to buy a cd player sound unheard will get exactly what he des...
Sarah Brightman Concert
this is an audio site. go away!
Acoustic Energy AE1 Signature
the ae1 signatures are very high quality monitors that require stands and placement away from walls for maximum performance. they are not intended to be used as bookshelf speakers and, IMO, it would be a sacriledge to do so.
Jazz- Modern big band
kid creole and the coconuts did some real interesting stuff a few years back. on the more recent side, i like squirrel nut zippers and the brian setzer orchestra. not quite classic big band jazz but enjoyable nonetheless.
Greatest Guitar Band
bencampbell is right. hell, i bet i'm older than any of you guys but i still go to concerts every chance i get. bands with at least 3 guitars, including bass, that are worthy and righteous: phish; primus; blues traveler; springsteen/lofgren/van za...
FM Reception
as a last resort, you may need to consider cable or internet radio. there are some unfortunate locations for which even the best of antennae will not suffice.
"Krell" is a buzzword
redkiwi: as you know, i think your posts are generally first rate. as a longtime owner of both bmw's and rolex's, however, i resent their connection to krell, a product i've listened to extesively but would never own. cheers, anyway!
Levinson 39 or Wadia 830/850/860 ?
just read the stereophile article re: the reborn wadia. not sure what stock to place in it. i'd wanna hear more before investing.
Levinson 39 or Wadia 830/850/860 ?
(1) stereophile has an extensive archive of reviews on their website; (2) wadia is, for now and maybe forever, kaput--caveat emptor; and,(3) it's all system-dependent, i.e., ya gotta listen for yourself, in your system. IMHO, the madrigal dacs smo...

carl, you're even dumber than i thought (a seeming impossibility...but then). it's not "walter middy." it's "walter mitty," as in "the secret life of......" that work was written by james thurber. oh, yeah, it wasn't thurber who penned plays with ...

carl, you are once again out of your element. what play in which falstaff appears is that upon which you opine. and how does j. thurber's creation become a foil for m. pearson? c'mon, carl, i really want to read your response to this one.
space above amp in rack for cooling
kinda late to be asking, isn't it? stupid post. if you need someone to validate your expenditures, go ask your mommy. she may give you an unconditional ok.
Equipment Rack Placement
sam: actually, it's fairly easy to find 6,7&8 meter pairs of ic's on audiogon. just post a "wanted" ad, specifying the wire you desire and, i can almost guarantee you, you'll get at least one response very quickly. BTW, the 2 best audio shop s...
"Krell" is a buzzword
what is the point of this thread, trelja? do you really think it will generate more light than heat? seems to me, you're simply baiting the horde.
Equipment Rack Placement
highend audio shows are not exemplars for equipment placement. having helped in the setup and teardown of rooms at ces and stereophile shows, i can tell you that you must frequently use your space for display as much or more so than for optimum so...
