funny thing: on this side of the pond, many think the tma stuff is just about as reasonably priced as their F-1 chassis. nice designs and build quality but quite unlikely to make much of a dent in the us market. still, IMHO, good to see a "real" u...
One Month Music Discoveries
garfish: my "5 cd's of eva cassidy" did not include "no boundaries" but did include "songbird." the latter is the 1st of eva's discs i purchased and is, indeed, a compilation. i find it an easy way to transport test tracks on a single disc. i agre...
One Month Music Discoveries
i've bought and been given a whole buncha cd's in the last month, too. my new discoveries of note: dave carter (with tracy grammer), "when i go" - really great writing and very well recorded; eric taylor, "scuffeltown"- poetry bob dylan would be p...

USA - Europe Duties
while some dealers may be accommodating enough to lie on duty declaration cards, perhaps thinking it's equivalent to "fudging" on tax returns, their doing so is a federal criminal offense. done repeatedly and knowingly, that offense may result in ...
USA - Europe Duties
i guess you could try a long-distance rum runner. sorry, don't know of any offhand.
cornfedboy ?
my spouse, who needs a new dog-hauler, has asked whether there might be someone out there putting aftermarket bi-turbos on bmw 540i wagons who would like a truly glowing review. we'd throw in a review of the upgraded sound system as well. -kelly
The Best DeKay - Copper or Silver Wire?
i don't know how many times it needs to be said, but the choice of wire is highly subjective. i've tried the silver dekay and copper dekay in a number of configurations. they're both painfully strident, tho either is clearly preferable to the toot...

i would love to write a full-blown review of the boulder 1012, after having listened to it extensively in my system. unfortunately, i can't do that now, since delivery of my unit has been delayed. (the chassis must be perfect before the innards ar...
cd players with volume control
frap: you mind tellin' us where you got your data? i'd be particularly interested in learning which of the cd players you've used exhibits this characteristic. i'd also appreciate a listing of the cd's that you've found are recorded at unusually l...
dire straits -what to buy
the best dire straits recordings in my collection are on japanese vinyl, with the exception of "making movies" that is even better on canadian half-speed. if you're patient, you can find most of the japanese pressings on ebay. if you're not planni...
cd players with volume control
jim: i can assure you that the volume control on the accuphase dp-75v does not "drop bits." i don't own the unit but one of my good friends does. (i have owned the dp-75, which i ran directly with great sucess.) he thoroughly researched this issue...
If you knew then, what you know now...
if i had to do it all over again, i'd be born rich, living my life as a trust fund baby and ignoring the hoi poloi on this most pedestrian of audio sites; should I, quite unlikely, find it amusing to listen in on your rf static, i'd have my secret...
cd players with volume control
a conspicuous model by its absence thus far: the accuphase 75v. digital volume control that will not degrade the sonics by rolling off high and/or low end at varying output levels, as will the "analogue" pots. you can't appreciate the best unless ...
