Help pick opening song for my film
kubla: here are two by randy newman that i don't think he's used on any of his sountracks. the first should be the version sung by harry nilsson on "nilsson sings newman." the second should be the original by mr. newman.I'LL BE HOMEI'll Be HomeI'l...
Question about inverting polarity
zaikesman: i agree with you on all points but one: i CAN here differences in cd playback using the polarity/phase control function on the boulder. most experiences are subtle. some are not. and, we're not just talkin' about "audiophile" recordings...
Any Opinions on Tannoy Speakers?
i couldn't disagree more with marakanetz about the aesthetics (read: WAF) of the tannoy churchill's. until tannoy decided to stick that crazy flying saucer (super tweeter) into the top of the cabinets, the churchill's in rosewood were, IMO, one of...
Can Someone Explain This?
walter: you've already gotten a number of good suggestions. permit me to attempt an ordering of possible fixes, including a couple of my own. first, i agree with famaraca that you should give your cdp a bit more time to break in. when i got my bou...
Could you tell me about the accoustic satori
odiomuse: i own a rowland 8ti (factory modified) and avalon eidolons. i've tried numerous cables and have found tara "the one" to offer the best presentation. great soundstage width and depth, controlled bass, crystalline mids, superior PRaT. in s...
Kuzma Stabi XL
great pictures, brian but the only review's in chinese! -cfb
Question about inverting polarity
some recordings are quite intentionally produced "out-of-phase" to maximize soundstage width. the most recognizable of these are "q sound" products, including roger water's "amused to death" and madonna's "music." -cfb
Please help with system synergy and imaging
you should be able to get to "row m," at least, by exchanging the mit wire with something on the more transparent (NOT the company) side. don't know your budget but i'd look to tara rsc's or, better, ism's, if the latter are in your range. - cfb
Kuzma Stabi XL
kuzma is distributed in the usa by muse. the stabi xl and reference arm is one of the top 3 tt/arm combos i've ever heard. plus, the xl is a work of sculptural art, just by itself. this tt/arm needs something more, tho, than you're likely to find ...
component order on a rack?
another caveat re: component placement: if you are using a separate phono stage or a preamp with a built-in phono stage, it should be placed in close proximity to the source and as far away from the amp as possible. in my experience, it is ALWAYS ...
Question about inverting polarity
sarah: my boulder 1012 also allows remote polarity inversion, which the (very handsome) manual explains nicely as being different from phase inversion. here’s what it says:NOTE: Often polarity is mistakenly called phase. As phase indicates any ang...
Spade V/S Banana
yes, you should have no bananas. -cfb
columbia vinyl dylan remasters
ben: i've put in my order. just waiting for confirmation from the rep. and for those who've emailed me, no i can't get but one "deal." -cfb
Where can I get XLR to RCA adapters?
myraj: go to the closest place that sells electric guitar or other pro sound gear. they should have what you want. 'course, if they don't have what you want, they should have what you need. -cfb
Seeking advice re: complex power conditioning
jmeyers: i think you've create an almost surefire recipe to degrade the sound of your self-proclaimed "rather high-end system." you'd do better, IMO, replacing your "mainly transparent audio cabling" with zipcord. very small grade zipcord. YMMVBID...
