Do "Cardas Caps" make a difference?
the cardas caps are well-made, cool looking and certainly do make a difference to george cardas' bottom line. BTW, an xlr/balanced version is now available to keep dust balls and other nasties from enterin' those three little holes. -cfb
Best Dac you ever heard
say all you want about the audio aero gear. if you've not listened to the boulder dac's (1012 and 2020), you've yet to hear how great redbook cd's can sound. -cfb
better gear, worse recordings
in my experience it's tempting, when getting towards the top of the ladder, to take one or two steps too far. my system is becoming more comforting and listenable as i add or replace just a single component at a time. if i try to put several new p...
Acoustic treatment for a garage ceiling
so, is this going to be a drive-in home theater? if the ceiling is as hard surfaced as the walls, i'd recommend putting up at least a few (black) sonex squares. they often work better on ceilings than walls. -cfb
cable cooker, do they work?
the mobie works so well on ic's that you'd have to be either deaf or an objectivist jackass not to hear the effect. life is too short to spend even a moment on needless searches for the physical causes of clearly perceptible sonic differences.-cfb
Who R U?
howdy bob moyers! sounds like you're gonna fit into our little community like a cherry in a manhattan. -cfb
ebay classical vinyl collection
i would be very wary (or, per elmer fudd, vewy wewy) of bidding on this "item." the seller has 0 feedback and lists not a single selection from the collection. i'd ask for a complete list, including "goldmine" standard conditions for each. my gues...
What's inside these aluminum/metal cases?
brian's notation as to the boulder 2010's being a preamp is, of course, correct. here's a link showin' the innards of the amp i'll probably purchase to replace my modified jrdg 8ti:http://www.boulderamp.com/bldramp.1060%20inside.html-cfb
More Questions for the Experts
i plug everything directly into dedicated 20 amp circuits with hubbell/ps outlets. (i also use aftermarket pc's on my amp and pre/dac.) i've auditioned several "power conditioners," power regenerators," "surge protectors" and "black boxes" (e.g., ...
Best CD Player - Opinions?
a list of "the best" one-box cdp's isn't complete without the addition of the burmester cdp-001. it uses a belt-drive on a top-grade (consumer) phillips transport and an upsampling dac. if you like german design, build quality and sound, the 001 d...
What's inside these aluminum/metal cases?
brian: i'm really not sure what your point is but if you wish to see elegance of design, try this link:http://www.boulderamp.com/bldramp.2010-inside.htmlthis boulder preamp is, simply put, the best audio product of any kind i've ever heard.-cfb
Any one tried David Elrod's EPS power cables?
sonrisa: could you please provide me your telephone number? i represent any number of telemarketers who would love to have you on their lists. -cfbps- compare jtinn's post to the one just below it. now, what's wrong with this picture?
Which cables and ic's would you choose?
cyrus: my eidolons sound best with tara, "the one" for cables and ic's. "the zero" is even better but much more dear. -cfb
Any one tried David Elrod's EPS power cables?
jtinn: we've been through this before but it has not, apparently, been resolved. YOU ARE AN AUDIO DEALER. you should, IMO, disclose this in EVERY post you make. indeed, in my view, you should post only in the name of your business. i find your sta...
7500 for USED cables? Are they joking?
theaudiotweak: boy, does your post make me feel a lot better. i paid $15,000 for a pair of .5 meter interconnects that have never been reviewed. or even heard of by all but the "true insiders." thank goodness! -cfb
