how to remove the platter of Micro Seiki DDX1500
i have a ddx 1000 and an rx1500. in both cases, the platter nests on a conical shaped bearing shaft. the mating parts snug together like morse tapered parts do. i lift the platter with a sharp quick straight up tug and it breaks the mechanical fit...

breuer 5c tonearm
well i finally got everything together to mount the breuer on the micro 1500. i would not have ever thought that there would be so much improvement possible in changing tonearms. comparing it to the max 282, the breuer sounds alive. tremendous dep...
breuer 5c tonearm
viridiani bought the max and the 1500 new back in the 80's. great combo. i bought the breuer used recently and it sounded incredible on the ddx, hence the move to the rx1500. i know jody of globe audio well. can't afford the new breuer (yet....). ...
breuer 5c tonearm
i did have it installed on my micro ddx1000 with a benz H20 and loved it. so i thought i would displace my micro seiki max 282 with a benz ebony with the breuer to see what it would do. thanks for the reply.
Best Zeppelin LP recordings...
the song remains the same recent re-release by stan ricker is a huge disappointment. it sounds awful. flat, lifeless, no bottom end, smeary, terrible definition.the classics are a hit and miss. presence has terrible sibbilance (sp?), physical graf...
Harshness in tweeters: the price of transparency?
when you get to a certain level of quality in your system, many new factors come into play. what didn't sound harsh and smeary at one time may ultimately display those characteristics. from years of constant trials and upgrades, i have learned a f...
Help with early SME 3009 counter weight
i have heard that some audiophiles used to glue the counterweight in position for better sonics. that may be the case with your arm. can you see any signs of glue? if so, i'm not sure what the next step would be....
platine motor with nylon thread
i have a micro seiki rx1500 and the motor is separate from the platter. i use dental floss as a drive belt. there are no worries of stretching with it. you may also experiment with using 1/4" reel-to-reel tape as a belt. i have not tried it yet, b...
Mundorf silver and oil or VH OIMP for crossover?
i used the mundorf silver in oil exclusively in my crossovers. they are an extremely smooth and detailed cap. make sure that you have room, they are large caps. i also found that installing a bypass cap of a small value across the main caps, espec...
Products for raising cables off the floor.
hi kevineyour runs are fairly short. a riser in from each end of the cable will relieve the stress on the cable, so you should be ok with 2 per cable. i don't know what the best risers are, each may or may not have different impacts on your system...
Kenwood/Trio L05-M grounding
why don't you install the better a/c cable and leave the ground wire unterminated. the ground loop is controlled through the rca and typically through the preamp to ground. i performed that upgrade to a pair of LO9-M's that i had. (you may want to...
best possible indoor antenna
the only fm antenna i have used is a whip type, the dynalab.it is made to be used either indoors or out. the antenna can easily be placed out of the way (in the floor joists, in a corner or in the attic). it's a great antenna, occasionally they co...
Klipsch LaScalla "upgrade"?
last month's edition of audioXpress mag had an article on upgrading the tweeter in the k-horn. the upgrade would apply to the lascalla as well, since it uses the same components, but different cabinet......don
