Move From AVR to Integrated?
@jnehma1 Thanks for the level headed response. It does seem like there's going to be trade offs no matter which way I go and particularly at my price point. Maybe I'll save the money I may have spent on an external amp if that doesn't seem like a ...
Move From AVR to Integrated?
@fuzztone I don't think there's a need to be condescending. I thought the AVR was not a cheap investment. They don't manufacture many products that have ability to use hdmi audio, stream, offer some correction, etc. In 2 channel varieties. If ever...
Move From AVR to Integrated?
@bkeske I am attracted to the integrated route. I am just trying to be realistic about having a shared living room/listening area and placement/treatment has its limitations. If it was a separate space I'd certainly go that route. I'm looking more...
Move From AVR to Integrated?
@erik_squires Far out of my price range I think. Thank you though. Kind of affirms I can't get those things unless going to premium models.
Move From AVR to Integrated?
@erik_squires I don’t plan on using more than 2.1. Which is why I wish there were more features in integrated amps. Just a bit of connectivity would be great. I’ll probably upgrade to 3xxx Denon and then pre out to stereo 200wpc power amp or mono ...
Move From AVR to Integrated?
@erik_squires Thank you. I placed the sub using a calibrated mic and REW to find best response. The bass management helped smooth out what placement did not. Yeah, it's rough. I want to stream and use digital sources. I'm considering moving to an ...
Move From AVR to Integrated?
@millercarbon I am still in trial period with these and love how they sound. I am aware of how sensitivity works logarithmically with power, but didn't realize I would have a problem. However, I am probably limited in my choices within my price ra...
Ascend Sierra 1 vs Triangle Borea BR08
@toro3 I did some more testing last night and I’ve settled on the Sierras. Don’t get me wrong, the Triangles have a lot going on, but they just don’t have the clarity and detail the Sierras do. This was a case of quality vs quantity. Ultimately, I...
Ascend Sierra 1 vs Triangle Borea BR08
Got both pairs of speakers yesterday and hooked them up this morning. I'm no veteran, but my impressions so far: Sierra 1 - these are on a different level to what I've heard before. There is detail, clarity and an openness that is incredibly excit...
Ascend Sierra 1 vs Triangle Borea BR08
@b_limoThe AVR is new. It struck a good balance for me right now. Decent power, lots of lossless streaming capability, good DAC, video inputs, room correction (I’ve EQd below 300hz and it’s pretty incredible). Of course separate audiophile compone...
Ascend Sierra 1 vs Triangle Borea BR08
@b_limo We shall see. 3-way, bigger cabinet, Chinese budget model vs. 2-way, smaller, bamboo, US made, and upgradeable to their high-end model.
Ascend Sierra 1 vs Triangle Borea BR08
@b_limo I'll most likely purchase the Sierra 1 as well. Figure if I like them more than the Triangle, I can sell the BR08S for around what I paid and make someone happy with the deal. Saves me shipping.
Ascend Sierra 1 vs Triangle Borea BR08
@b_limo Truth be told, I ordered the Triangles a couple days ago because I figured the deal would be dead. Found them on Adorama thru slickdeals. Looks like back to 1200-1400/pair.
Ascend Sierra 1 vs Triangle Borea BR08
@toro3 Ascend is local to me and that's attractive. I have heard great things about, Dave, the owner as well. Ascend also offers an upgrade kit that takes the 1s to the 2-EX and shaves a few hundred off the price. So that's also attractive.
Ascend Sierra 1 vs Triangle Borea BR08
@fuzztoneThat's probably what I'll do.
