Cartridge repair by Moscow based Roman?? Great learning from the many comments so far. Thank you all. So just to be clear: I tried to slip the stylus guard onto the cartridge but in doing so ended up snapping the cantilever backwards and it broke off and got lost. Next, I wil...
Cartridge repair by Moscow based Roman?? Just to clarify... my cartridge was audio-technica ART9 and it was damaged when the cantilever got snapped. The body is not damaged. So it is a matter of inserting a new stylus. Let me check out expert stylus and come back.
Cartridge repair by Moscow based Roman?? Hmm. The specific comment from Peter at Soundsmith was that due to the type of construction inside the cartridge, there would be no guarantee that a difficult repair could be perfectly executed. They did not consider it useful even to look at pict...
Marantz SA-10 arriving Monday! Hi Anwar. That is pretty good. I will certainly try. But my USB stick is only 32GB. Can only download limited stuff. I will need to burn DVD blanks for DSDs and listen to them. Which is what I have been doing. But interesting that USB can also be ...
Marantz SA-10 arriving Monday! I got an SA10 for myself a few months ago, and I must say that it is an incredibly natural sounding player, plus great detail retrival, slam and musicality. I spent serious time on RCA vs XLR, and settled on a suitable pair of XLRs (VDH Second).I ...

Focal Sopra 2 vs Sopra 3? After a few months I am in a position to update. The Sopra N3s filled my room with unbearable bass. I junked my Kimber TC12 and instead opted for Belden 8477 as the speaker cable. I switched out of my SME 3009 tonearm and went in for an SMEV with ...

Best Phono Cable for SME Series V When you change the tonearm to phono lead, for the sake of matching, dont you also have to (ideally) change the tonearm internal wiring, painful though it may prove to do?
Accuphase E600 or Esoteric F-03A Greg, thanks. I am veering towards the Gryphon Diablo 300, which seems to be sitting all by itself at the table...

Upgrading form Pass integrated amplifier to a better one What about Esoteric F-05? Is it not worthy of a mention?
Decision time - Garrard 301 vs EMT938 I did go for the ART-9, based on the discussions in your other big thread (fantastic thread), and had done 100 hours on it, and now looking for an SME-V and good phono. The sound improvement is quite significant, and it improved a bit more after a...
Pani ... New ART-9 up and running ... Lewm - right on both counts. I had to turn up the volume slightly when shifting from 100 to 30. My gain is adjustable, but significantly upwards, and not in a small step, and right now I get the right volume at the 9am position and want to keep it...
Pani ... New ART-9 up and running ... Lancelock, I am using a plug in phono from Accuphase AD2820. It plugs into the preamp. It has 10/30/100/300 Ohms in MC. |
