White Audio Labs B2 or A100 Amp. Opinion
Beats me Albert. Nothing negative as far as I am concerned.
B W Nautilus 805
Agree with the others except to dispute the opinion that bad recordings are unlistenable. The top end is very sweet but they are also very revealing so make sure the rest of the chain is top notch and match components carefully.
White Audio Labs B2 or A100 Amp. Opinion
I owned the A50 which the dealer told me actually had a sweeter charactor than the bigger models. I auditioned it against the Krell KAV300i and sold the White for the Krell because it controlled my Thiel 22s with more authority. I later missed the...
ElectrostatsPlaner/Ribbon s Vs Cone driv
Obsessive, I suppose. But beats blowing money drinking, gambling or other vices (of course I drink some). I really do wish I could compare the Maggies and the Apogees in my listening room. Unfortunately no dealer in Colorado and I know of no owner...
ElectrostatsPlaner/Ribbon s Vs Cone driv
That is pretty interesting. Not sure I know what that says about our little hobby (obsession) and am pretty sure I don't want to know!I did audition the Aerius and for my ears did not find it as musically involving as the B&W's. It is only bec...

thanks much Doug. I was leaning towards the Maggie 1.6's but you cause me to pause for thought. How do all the good things you say about the Apogees compare to the Maggies? (considering that $2000 is about as much as I can spend)

My understanding is that Apogee is no longer in business. Should I be concerned about reliability and support?

Thanks to all for responding. I have to pause for thought at Kenp's comment about not being able to tolerate the tweeter in the B&W Nautilus series. I have never heard a sweeter top end. Different strokes I guess, perhaps other compents in the...

The Maggie 1.6 is one that I am considering but was hoping to hear from someone about what I might expect in the way of pro's and cons of the 1.6 with REL sub vs the 805N with same sub. I will also try to get info on the Manger USA but I need some...
Bi-wireing Proac 2.5
I had a pair of 2.5's and always ran biwire because on previous speakers there it was so much better to do so.Regarding the jumper "rod's", they are made of Rhodium not steel, for better conductivity and corrosion resistance. They are also quite p...
Proac 3.8 Owners
With 2.5's the spikes allow for some degree of tilt adjustment. I suspect the 3.8's would as well/
Vibrapods under speakers
Cream cheese has a higher damping coefficient and smooths out the frequency extremes better than jam, I have found. But don't go with the low cal version it just does not work the same. All joking aside, I am now experimenting with Vpods on my B&am...
classe audio questions
I had a Classe CD player that was out of warranty and needed an initialization adjustment. Because they did not get to it as soon as they had hoped to, they did the adjustment at no cost. In short, my experience with them has been great.
inexpensive hdcd player or dac
Paul, how do you define "inexpensive"? The Classe CDP.3 is a wonderful cd player for the money that has hdcd. I think it runs around $1,000 new and $500 used. Build like a tank and solid aluminum remote as well. Cheers
What is in a Naim ?
I you ever get a chance to try a Naim CD player and especially with the flatcap upgrade, do so. Draws you in and gives you happy butt. . . very musical and rythmic but not ultimately deep soundstage. Just have to hear for yourself.
