RRL Cleaner, Vinyl Zyme, and Groove Glide
I finnaly got my DIY working right after the same plight of lifting the record off the base. Dan ed is right for me one hole did the trick on my mini 1hp Shop Vac. I also found out that I was using too much RRL fluid. I found that three small drop...
what's your favorite album cover?
Miles Davis Bitch's Brew, for the Klarwien art work.
Native American Music
If you want to hear how a tradional flute sounds pick up Canyon Trilogoies from Carlos Nakai. Awesome! Truly hauntong sounds and melodies, even an eagle bone whistle on one of the tracks.
VPI Scout ...with Shelter 301 or Grado Sonata??
If you do go Grado, to match the preamp, use one of the lower outputs if you can adjust your gain. The Statement Series is around .4mv and there is a VPI run out there at 1.5mv( I own a VPI Sonata). they are suppose to sound better b/c of the smal...
standard counterweight vs drop counterweight
I had both the Express Machining and the Kerry Audio counterweight at one time, I kept the Kerry F2. I tried both on a Rega P3 before I got rid of it and the Heavyweight. The listening test was b/w a RB300 w/ the EXpress Machining Heavyweight vs. ...
standard counterweight vs drop counterweight
To me it was a no Brainer, even though I have heard a good set up(Nottingham Horizon, Shure V, Rb250) without the endstub upgrade. Between the two mentioned above I would have to go with the F-2, from Kerry Audio.
Analog Set-up Tools
how about a string level to balance on the arm to tell when level? I picked one up from Home Depot for aruound $2. I just put the stylus guard on and estimate the height of the cart. while playing a record and find a relative level position and th...
Best table in $1500 range
Oh sheeet Toddwj just kicked the ant hill with that one. I would concur with Doug on the Rega 250 arm, a STEAL. Add an Expressimo Audio 2xtreme endstub and a Kerry Audio titanium counterweight and redo the wiring oh don't forget the VTA riser and ...
Maggies and solid core wires
I currently am using a lesser gauge of Monster Cable's straight copper wire. I forgo the bannana ends and just put the straight exposed wire into the back. RF does not seem to be a problem, I listen to mostly vinyl and the signal is good and clean...
Grado "wobble"...?
I have owned four Grados all in all from the Black, Blue, Plat., now a VPI Sonata. In a nutshell, yes the wood bodies wobble as you put it, the only time I have noticed this was with the wood bodied carts., namely the current Sonata. I have it att...
Anyone tried Herbie's mat on a Rega planar ?
I had one on a P3, worked wonders, lowered the noise floor, increased my bass response and all for under $50!
best turntable for 500$ or less
Or a Goldringtable(built by Rega) there's one listed in the classifieds with the RB250 arm and cart. for under $400!
Sytrofoam peanuts and EVIL and worthless
My peanut story, revolves around a John Coltrane issue of Sunship. For some reason, this guy tought that peanuts were the way to go. He packed the album(which had seam splits) in peanuts, didn't even protect the jacket or vinyl with an outer sleev...
best turntable for 500$ or less
Bigjoe, I agree with Mikesinger about the SOTAs too. I have upgraded(? some would agree) to a SOTA Sapphire series II(mid 80's) model, beats the Rega for quietness. It also has a speed control to fine tune the speed. Also can be had on the cheap w...
VTA Q: Rega P25 with Clearaudio Aurum Beta S
I have to agree with Listener57, about the F2 have it and love it. I use a Sota with a detachable armboard, makes changing VTA a little easier. I did find a unique VTA adjuster, that would allow adjustment on the fly for Rega arms on Ebay. Nobody ...
