Thoughts on balanced power
Equi-Tech is the real deal, worked much better than the PS Audio P10 and cheaper and more efficient. Better in every way. Gearslutz is a good place to buy them. But with that said, if your equipment can take 240V, American 240V is balanced, and fre...
Can too many components on one outlet affect the sound of an amp?
Yes, the fewer components, the better it sounds.
Great multichannel amps do not cut it in stereo
Nah, best bang for the buck is to get active monitors. You get bi/tri amp per speaker for pennies on the dollar, some even give you digital crossover.
Estimated Value of Old, Nice System?
Check Ebay sold history for market price.Edit, I just checked, looks like it’s not worth much. The Yamaha is worth about $60 (then minus 13% then minus shipping). The tower $75 each before fee/shipping. So on Ebay you’d be lucky to net $120 after ...
Why do all audio forums on the internet seem "dead" ?
Yeah, it's pointless bashing at snake oils. It's just I'm still kinda pissed about how much money I'm going to lose on them. The best bang for the buck is definitely used pro audio equiptments, the 5.1 system I'm building now cost a fraction of my ...
Why do all audio forums on the internet seem "dead" ?
Sorry, I still got like $8000+ worth of audiophile equips that I need to sell. So not going to say what it is. But here's a freebie since I sold all my audiophile DACs already. The TASCAM UH-7000 is an unbelievable value. Beats multiple $3000+ aud...
Why do all audio forums on the internet seem "dead" ?
Basically what shadorne said. I got a $80 active monitor that just blows away thousand dollar audiophile system right now... I bought it for the lulz because it was so stupid cheap but was completely blown away... I really shouldn’t be bashing aud...
Have you gotten great sound in a small er room?
Use small bookshelf (the smaller the better), aim it right at your ears. It’s actually easy to make it sound good in a small room.
Dedicated lines: 1) isolated grounds or not? 2) Subpanel connection wiring
None of it matters, do 240V (balanced) if you can, that will make a big difference.
Shiit yggdrasil
I heard at one guy’s house, wasn’t impressed at all. Modern DACs from the big manufacturers are all damn good nowadays, there’s no point in spending big bucks on a DAC. Make sure the DAC you get can do NOS mode though, that is the key.
Help With 60Hz Hum PLEASE
I'm afraid it's the amp. Probably a bad filter capacitor. Get it repaired or buy a different one. If your system can take it, switch to 240V can help.
Lo-Fi, Mid-Fi or Hi-Fi- What's your system and why?
I had a hi-fi stereo setup before, I now have a pro audio setup (5 speakers!). Still need to sell a lot of stuff....The system is super accurate now, it’s a two way sword though, but I like it better, plus it’s infinitely cheaper.
Schiit Bifrost w/multibit OR....
Get the TASCAM UH-7000
Isolation Transformers -- Equitech or Torus?
Torus is not balanced. Equitech is balanced, and where most of the benefits come from.
Reevaluation can be a good thing
I have gotten rid of all my tweaks over time. Now I just use standard pro audio components for everything.
