Power Cables - Stock vs. Budget Audience Forte-3 👍
What are/were the best sounding cheap components you have ever had? The NuForce STA-200 was a nice inexpensive amp that audio advisor sold for around $500.00.
Power cords or power conditioner When I was getting back into Audio a few years ago, I purchased a $100 Silnote power cord for a NuForce STA-200. The change was HUGE! My deaf mother and father could have probably heard the difference. Pass Labs and First Watt includes a very sub...
Looking for Speaker Recommendations @wast314 - Why no Klipsch? Have you heard Cornwall lV’s?
Recommendation for low to normal level listening a 13.5' x 21' x 8' room I 3rd the horn recommendation, also @glennewdick expresses a lot of good options. Also remember the Cornwall 4’s are a different animal compared to their predecessors. I use a First Watt Sit 3 that is also popular among Cube Audio fans.
tube pre & ss amp integrated You might consider one of the Nelson Pass amps. First Watt SIT - 3, or the Pass XA-25. My favorite is the SIT-3. I understand the F-8 is very good also, but don’t own one.
Looking for a preamp with XLR connections I have 4 preamps a MicroZOTL MZ2, Cary SLP 98, Coincident Statement Line Stage Mk1, and a Supratek Sauvignon. The Latter 2 have XLR connections. If you've never heard of Supratek, you should look into them. The Coincident is very good but, uses th...
My experience with the First Watt F7 It seems to me that if one has issues with a First Watt or Pass products performance it might be worth a shot to send Nelson an email (or Pass Labs) and discuss SQ expectations to determine whether or not the amplifier is sounding out of character.
My experience with the First Watt F7 I have 2 Nelson Pass amps, the XA-25 and the SIT-3. To simplify, the XA-25 is very transparent and to borrow from @wolf_garcia, clear, sweet, coherent, revealing, and powerful, the SIT-3 has warm tone and texture and gives music body and weight. ...
Is there a strategy in preamp tube placement? @curiousjim - A buddy came over yesterday and we installed 4 of his olderTelefunken's in the phono stage in place of the Electro Harmonics. It was really really nice. @lowrider57- I bought my Linlai's from Vivatubes, so I'm on the fence about buy...
Is there a strategy in preamp tube placement? mulveling- I very much appreciate your response. I have a Tung-sol 6sn7gtb in the gain stage and the Linlai E 6sn7 in the buffer spot. Down stream I have a SIT-3 and Cornwall lV’s and it is amazing how swapping the few tubes I have, affects the s...
worth the jump to Cornwall IV's from Forte IV's? Better bass and soundstage. I would buy Cornwalls again for sure. I like the combo of the lumin u1 mini, BorderPatrol, Cary SLP 98 and SIT 3. I really enjoy the organic tone and texture along with detail this combination produces. I would love to ...

worth the jump to Cornwall IV's from Forte IV's? As to the comment, “they’re not Bass machines”. Mine are very good in that regards, but I also have a well treated room, with very little cancellation. |
